I don’t think there’s any problem with negativity when it’s warranted. The class is very lackluster right now but right now doesn’t mean anything. ESD is 5 days from now. We can hold off on calling the class a failure until then.

If we land a good number of the guys that we are after then we will all (except Randy) be pleased. If it’s 2012 part II then this place is going to be Chernobyl and will be justified in it .

Of course, we will find out a lot. All I'm saying is that they have confidence, and there is a lot of indication that they have intentionally set this up for this to be a big story ("Auburn's recruiting finish").

One of the "insiders" on the On3 boards made a good point: Austin Ausberry's announcement on Monday should be a solid early indicator. The staff supposedly feels fairly good about that one, so if he announces Auburn, then it probably bodes well in terms of their ability to "read the room".

I hope you are right. That 2012 class we point at as a disaster finished 10th in the country. That is with a coaching staff that had players kidnapping people

The 2012 class was viewed so poorly because we finished #5 and #6 the previous years.

The funny part is that 2012 actually had a better average recruit rating than those two that finished ahead of them. It felt so disappointing because of all the misses on NSD

The ‘10 and ‘11 classes were massive. Over 33 in each

It is less the 2012 class as a whole and more that NSD. I think we landed Avery Young and missed on every other player

Interesting development in Hoover. Niblett resigned as HC. Talent level has declined there the past few years, but not sure what is driving this. He has wanted to be at the college level for years.

I’m fine with negativity. I just don’t know why people are jumping in here now panicking about recruiting when signing day is so close and that’s supposed to be when things happen.

If we’re still 2nd to last in the SEC after signing day then criticize all you want.

Ha. I think he is going to GA. We need a more AU presence there for recruiting. Although that strategy hasn't exactly worked for us at HT.

Who were some of the 2012 guys we missed on? The only name I can remember was Leonard Williams.

We signed 7 OTs that class, have we signed that many since?

What’s with the Josh hate? He’s a personal friend of mine since childhood. There is no more true Christian out there. He works his tail off. Is it that he’s almost 50 and is ripped like he’s 25? Or did his team just happen to beat yours? I root for my high school growing up, the school I coach at, and Hewitt-Trussville and Hoover has broken our hearts plenty of time but Josh is a great dude.

Coaches visited M'baa again
So he IS still a target for Auburn still. Someone here said otherwise.

Citizen might delay announcing until Feb’s signing period. Not sure if that’s good or bad for our chances with Citizen but it puts us in a bind for Williams potentially.

KN CB’d 4* JUCO CB Keionte Scott to AU

KN also learned that both FSU and UT believe that Auburn is their biggest threat for JUCO S Marquise Gilbert

He’s definitely a guy Auburn wants. But I think Garner is going to bend us over on this one

You haven’t learned anyone we don’t get wasn’t a take, wasn’t a fit, had someone higher on our board… if we sign someone rated lower then a high 3 star then the coaches had them higher rated on their board.

First recruiting class bro?
