did you seriously expect a top 5 class, from a HC with no ties to the south, in his first recruiting cycle?

Can we just wait a couple more days to see how we close before we evaluate?

If we close strong, will be a great sign

I expected mid range in the SEC. I don't think that is unreasonable.

That’s where we are expecting to end up at minimum

It is reasonable to wait. But as of right now, I feel like we will finish second on our targets.

Jonesy can correct me if I’m wrong.

But even if we just get targets that are essentially locks, we end up mid range of SEC

Sure, but we are talking about the class as it stands now. It’s December and it’s pitiful.

Hopefully it gets going soon.

Yes, because there is nothing in between top 5 nationally and 13th in the SEC.

Who do you think are these locks?

Then you expected way too much. Have rational expectations.

Probably depends on how each person defines mid range. And there’s February too so minor adjustments will happen but I think mid range is basically locked up and we have potential to do a bit better.

So if we have a subpar recruiting class this class, go 6-6 ish next year, and the 2023 class ends up mediocre how long will Harsin get reasonably? This year was a step back, when am I allowed to expect visible steps forward?

The best recruiter for Auburn this year is Damari Alston. And he’s visiting Michigan State this weekend.

"I'm locked in with Auburn but I'm just going because I'll never get the experience back again. Basically for fun before i sign," Alston said. "But you dont have to worry about anyone flipping me."

Damari let Caddy know about this visit a while ago

There’s a lot of recruiting information flowing. I understand that we can build on that information and it takes us to related subjects but for another week can we keep this thread clear of things not directly related to the recruiting info at hand?

I’m already reposting things a lot due to us running through a few pages a day. This stuff makes it unmanageable and I’ll need to pull back on posting again to slow it down

Signing day is going to be very interesting regardless, but if it goes the way the staff feels it will then there are going to be a few posters on here who will need to atone for a lot of sins. The expectation is that this should end up being a commendable class given where they started from.

I'll gladly eat some over cooked crow. If we don't close, then asking hard questions about this coaching staff will be warranted, too.

The negativity is not helpful especially seeing how hard these coaches have been working on recruiting. I understand and share the concerns but I support Harsin. This is not helpful and frankly weakens AU.

We live in the SEC, man. There are no participation trophies. There are hard realities with a 34th ranked recruiting class in our league. Glossing over facts leads to an environment where 49 MM contracts are written for a 7 win coach. I hope all of you are correct, but I am also going to look at the rankings and provided feedback vs where our peers finish.

I think some of you are being a little over emotional right now. I think there’s real concerns over recruiting and people being negative in this thread aren’t damaging Auburn.

This staff started meeting kids in June. They decided to take this approach to maximize their time and relationships with kids and the uncertainty of how next week unfolds is a product of that approach.

Im not a big “next year” guy but they’ve used this whole last fall to bring in 2023 kids. They won’t have to put it all together next December. Hoping that helps.

Regardless, we’ve got a good opportunity to close strong and there haven’t been many developments yet that point to Auburn being in trouble yet.

5 days until next Wednesday. Try to hold it together, folks
