Auburn sent an official offer to Austin Ausberry. His dad Verge, played at LSU and works in the athletic department. Also, Austin goes to high school on LSU’s campus
KN caught up with Ausberry. Says he’s excited to visit Auburn this fall and is open to leaving Baton Rogue.
Who knows

Is this “official offer” thing a new thing we started or have other teams done that?
Not really a big fan of it tbh. I see nothing but downside doing that

August 1st is the first day any program can officially offer recruits. They’re all verbal offers before then. Mostly a formality

Corch, I heard AuburnEagle needed a new Mod. You should look into it.

I’ve never seen this thing all the recruits are tweeting out saying they got an “official offer” before.
I’m just curious if that’s a new thing or not. Feel like it won’t really move the needle for the guys you’re giving it to at this point. Guys you don’t give it to feel slighted by it.
If you give borderline guys one, but then have some surprises commit to you, then you look bad giving it to someone and not following through.

They’re not new but the format is new. I’ll try to be more detailed.
Before 2010, official offers (also known as written offers) were allowed to be sent in September of the recruit’s Junior year. In an effort to slow down the recruiting process, the NCAA extended it back to August of a recruit’s senior year.
Used to, recruits just got it via email (sometimes sent to the high school coach) or by US mail. However, in the last few years, every program has graphics guys/departments and they will send them to recruits directly. So we see them now basically because of the graphics guys on Instagram and Twitter. But they’ve always been a thing.
Every program sends them. It’s just more recruiting material to push out. Recruit’s like them because they can repost the graphics and have an update on whether the school is still pursuing them. It’s non-binding and means nothing otherwise.

Reports out from some are that the staff and AD are a lot more strict on rules around the NIL at AU then at say bammer or ThUGA.
How would anyone know this with enough certainty to "report" on it?

I had a Cabernet invasion last night that took over my being. I hope everyone can forgive and forget. If I said not so nice things to anyone my apologies. I haven't gone back and looked. Jones I still think your avatar is disturbing. Nightmareish even.

I think one of the pay sites said that Auburn has an app the players have to send NIL stuff through to get approved whereas most schools are treating it total wild west style and not keeping up with it. Personally I like that we're being proactive and not waiting for a player to do something stupid.

Shannon Terry claims the Auburn On3 site Auburn Live is ready. Maybe tomorrow?

I believe most SEC schools are using apps. Most SEC teams are using INFLCR. All student athletes have to disclose NIL deals to the institution’s compliance department (or other applicable department). That’s in every NIL law I’ve read so far. Additionally, as far as I can tell, each SEC school has their own policy too. All designed to ensure eligibility.
Id take rumors on NIL stuff with a heavy grain of salt.

I just think they looked at the depth chart and realized like 7-8 guys leave that room come January and bringing in more upper classmen there is a bad idea. That being said, they’ll need to do it in this class. KN expects half of the OL class to be JUCO and transfer guys.
I think they’ll take 2 HS OTs and 1 HS interior lineman.
Colby Smith and Garner Langlo end up being important pieces going forward. We need both of them to work out, and we need one to definitely be a multi year starter at tackle.
I once again agree with you on this Jonesy. Three options, go all out for high school players, most of which are taken now and whats left will take a couple of years to develop. Second go all JC/Transfer and end up in this same predicament in another year, or three your suggestion of a blend of the two aforementioned. It will take a couple of years.
I also agree that with some decent coaching the current group will look much improved this fall.

Coaches make it clear if and when it is a committable offer.
Now that didnt stop some fella from committing to us a couple of years ago.....and he did not even have an offer.

Jonesy is he expected to play WR or CB?

From what I’ve gathered they’re going to figure it out when he gets to campus. I’ve seen him talk about both
