They’ll lose at least 6: Brahms, Manning, Hamm, Troxell, Council, and Jackson. Unsure on Coffey’s eligibility
Thats terrifying

If they want to go ahead and commit, that’d be great…

I’m not the highest on Drew Bobo, but Auburn needs OL bad…

Just watched Powell Gordon's film. How was this kid not rated higher? His first step is nasty and he has the acceleration to cause real havok in the backfield. Interested to see if he bulks up and moves to the line

I think he’s a good prospect inside which he says that’s where he’ll play. We don’t have to worry about him understanding football too which is often new for us on the OL

Makes perfect sense, put a bandage on it while you are building the bench. The other options are to load up on Juco/transfer every year and look like George Allens Redskins, or sacrifice a season or two with all green linemen...neither of which look good.

My guess is that the ranking folks, and probably some coaches, think he has reached his athletic ceiling. He doesn’t look impressively fast or big. Definitely needs to fill out his frame and maybe they’re not sure he’ll keep what’s left of his speed as he does that.

The production is there, though. He finds gaps and finishes when he’s untouched. Has some moves on the end against OTs. And it always sounds like a joke but he’s the epitome of a high football IQ guy. He knows where the ball is going and takes good angles to meet the QB/RB.

Is he a culture setter? Does the staff see more potential to unlock versus a prospect that has hit his ceiling early? I think it’s those two, personally.

I imagine they’ll take an inside guy, like Bobo, and two HS Tackles. Obviously, Eston Harris and Jacob Hood would be ideal there but both could absolutely go other directions instead.

It sounds like Bryson Hurst really likes Auburn but KN hears coaching staffs may think he won’t qualify. Auburn hasn’t been talking with him a whole lot.

I think they’ll target some transfers with 1-2 years of eligibility left at OT. Probably well regarded G5 types looking to improve their draft stock. Not sure we can afford to gamble on JUCO guys with what the depth chart looks like at OT.

Dukesthescoop again. I posted his tweet a month or two ago saying he heard the staff was too focused on ball and no fun in their recruiting pitches.

quote:

When I said the staff pivoted. They did. Recruiting efforts are more balanced and the staffs personality is showing beyond the field. I’m not a sunshine pumper but it’s making a difference. Ball is still the focus. But you can have fun while changing the culture. I’m excited

Also our recent commit Alston is declaring himself our new recruiting coordinator

I doubt that kid ever plays a down for AU. Good for esprit de corps though.

Not sure what to make of that statement by Dukes. I saw it a few weeks ago.

I also said this early June:

June was an evaluation period. And he’s right. It wasn’t relaxed. Most of those interactions with kids on campus were workouts, camps, etc. They had kids for visits too but it was a different pace and that period had different goals. So, I’m not sure that a pivot has been made in philosophy or whatever. Maybe they’re more comfortable now and that’s coming across. Never a bad thing

4* ‘23 LB Tausili Akana visited Auburn yesterday and picked up an offer.

He’s from Hawaii and is the current #3 LB in the composite. Said a big part of him visiting Auburn was that his teacher in Hawaii is an Auburn alumni and kept telling him he should check it out.

quote:

“I had a teacher last year, she’s an alum here,” Akana said. “She told me she played basketball here. Everyday when I came into class after she found out I had a couple of offers she would always say ‘it’s not the Auburn offer.’ She would always tell me that I had to come check out Auburn. She doesn’t know I’m here but I’m going to give her the big news.”

Says he really likes the people there. Will try to come back and visit in the fall. Summarized from portions of Caldwell’s interview on 247 FREE

No, I believe the teacher that went to Auburn is teaching in Utah, so I think last year he must have been in Utah when she was teaching him.
For some reason, I guess he transferred to Hawaii for this coming year.

We need to go steal the gymnastics team bagman. If they got Suni Lee to committ when she was considered the US #2 (now #1) they must be a good bagman

Someone told me our gymnastics coach has a twin brother and the brother has been Suni’s coach for a while
