Should put some people at ease that the depth chart for the defense isn’t a 3-4

Little worried about the DTs but that’s about it on the defense. Kinda surprised Dreshun Miller couldn’t even crack the two deep

Not liking that the 5 on the oline isn’t settled at this point but I guess it is what it is

Simpson not starting at corner is a shocker to me

It’s harder for interior linemen to separate themselves in practice. It’s somewhat normal that they will all get a chance

No Canion, no Lee Hunter, and for some reason not having the nickle position are the biggest questions.. I'm guessing Canion and Hunter are Covid related.

Most surprised, like you said, not to see Canion. I didn’t hear much from Capers this fall but that could’ve been Covid related. I do expect a lot of rotation at WR. JFerg said in his podcast that Harsin might like Shed a lot more than the previous staff.

I think it’s interesting to see Brandon Council in an “OR” spot. I wonder if he’s still a little behind with the injuries

How did you manage to group Lee Hunter in with Canion? Why is it a "surprise" that a true freshman didn't make a 2-deep depth chart at DT?

Given how highly rated Hunter was and what we have the position, wouldn’t say it that crazy to call that a surprise

Also, who remembers back when a certain contingency on here were questioning the transfers of Tony Fair, Bydarrius Knighten, and Marcus Harris? "Derrr, a guy from UAB, an FCS DB, and a guy from Kansas! Only SEC teams have talented football players!". Those three seemingly beat out a lot of "SEC players" to earn starting roles, once again showcasing that teams who can evaluate talent can make an absolute killing in the transfer portal.

He didn’t participate on Saturday, according to 247. Might have a minor injury. He was present

One of these days we will have our o-line half way figured out before the season starts, but I don’t think there’s much in the cupboard to choose from right now.

Yeah, reports stated that we were missing some guys in the secondary on Saturday. Tennison was the other one I think was missing. The fact that Simpson at least made the two deep makes me hopeful that it was something minor and they expect him to be available this weekend.

Also, Harsin stated last week that Kaufman was the starting Nickel, and I believe it is expected that Tennison is the 2nd guy there although that position is not listed on the depth chart. Secondary appears loaded though. Hopefully, that is the main reason that we haven't heard much about Miller. He might have just transferred into one of the deepest secondaries in the country. We are going to need 4-5 corners in a lot of our games though I imagine.

I wonder if Harsin is one of those coaches that if you are injured you don't show up on a depth list?

I know a lot of pro teams won't show an injured player on their depth chart from week to week.

I have seen another depth chart that shows more depth than this one listed here.

THey have Loy 3rd and DD 4th at QB.
They have Hunter 3rd and Ingram/Corch's boy 4th at RB
They have Hudson 2nd and Malcolm Johnson 3rd at WR

Also interesting that Shivers is not at KR and Prichett/Kaufman are.

We certainly appear to have filled a lot of needs with the transfer portal. Im really excited to see them perform Saturday

Outside the OL, that’s a solid 2-deep all around.

Lots of little surprises on the depth chart. Nothing huge. Like some have mentioned Shed being the starter of Canion and Capers. I think Canion has a hammy injury right now. JJ Pegues being the backup at the nose. I thought for sure he would be slated at the DT spot. And to think Fair at his size won't be able to play 50 snaps a game so JJ will have to play 35-40ish snaps as well. Looks like game experience won out at a lot of positions which is to be expected but some of the young guys really shined in the fall per reports.

Damn Canion didn't make it even on the "OR" list. I can just hope Capers, Dawson, Johnson look that good.
