Our committed 3 stars were pounding the weights in the summer, and not attending 7 v 7 dog and pony shows. That’s the only reason why they’re not already five stars.

I've said it before, but Clemson has been the biggest thorn in our side in recruiting recently. Not Bama or thUGA

Just think about the players that have chosen them over us, which would hardly ever happen back in the day

Here’s the deal... it’s always gonna be somebody... 15 years ago it was FSU... 15 years from now it’ll be some other ACC team.

Losing Putnam would be a devastating blow to this class. It's hard to get pumped about all this talent at the skill position if the OL continues to suck

FYI Wiltfong says he's now hearing it's down to CLEM/FSU after previously thinking it's AU/CLEM....

I should note that Wolk in yesterday's insider said he thinks Putnam picks AU so we will see if Rivals trumps 247 this go around...

KN put up an insider this morning

- Points out why AU fans should be concerned & still hopeful on 4* OG Putnam. Concerns are that both AU & FSU see CLEM as their top threat. Also CLEM is selling similar things that AU is but can also sell more success on field. As for hope, CLEM doesnt' think this race is over at all & there is some concern on their staff that they haven't gotten final word yet. Also AU commit Luke Deal is close with PUtnam & still thinks AU is really in it. Finally, CLEM was feeling real good about Clay Webb a bit ago & ended up at best 3rd place. Final decision expected to come between now & Sunday

- 4* Buck Derick Hall wants to visit this weekend but was recently in a car accident. He's fine but he might not have a ride. If his car is fixed in time he will visit, if not he will stay home. MSST continues to try & convince him to take an OV but right now his mom says that if he goes anywhere this weekend it's AU

- CLEM has jumped into the race for 3* RB DJ Williams. They are trying to convince him to take an OV this weekend instead of visiting UGA. He's not sure yet where he will go. KN says that at least 2 other programs after Williams view AU as the team to beat right now. AU wants 2 backs in this class & are focusing in on foursome of 4* Noah Cain, 4* Mark-Antony Richards, 4* Jamious Griffin & Williams

- 3* CB Nehemiah Pritchett has not confirmed he will sign early with press but KN says sources tell him Pritchett has already told staff he will sign early

- Gus & Kodi visited commit 4* CB Jaylin Simpson & 4* S Jashawn Sheffield. Simpson is 100% committed. SCAR has made a push for Sheffield & he still isn't sure if he will sign early. However, AU offered their close friend & teammate LB Harry Veal a preferred walk on which probably helps AU's chances in keeping him on board. It's not a lock either sign early as their school is out that week but those close to them apparently would like for them to sign

WTF

So basically Clay Webb 2.0. We go from running a close 2nd to not even being in the picture.

I imagine in the days after early signing day Grimes will be looking for a new job

He wasn’t hired for his recruiting prowess so I wouldn’t get your hopes up

Unless you’ve got a relentless recruiter as your head coach (saban, dabo, smart, Meyer), your position coaches have got to be able to sell it... and while Gus is certainly a solid recruiter overall, it’s clearly not a passion... so when you have a bunch of shoddy development and turnover (like we’ve had at OL coach), this is what you get.

Yep. You need recruiters and developers. Unfortunately our developers haven't really been developing anyone, and our recruiters have recruited inefficiently (decent star rankings, but holes in roster management and talent gaps at key positions.)

There will be a lot of turnover after early signing day next week. Not sure if any at Auburn but there will definitely be coaches leaving and being hired.

I also wouldn't be surprised if we hear some new names after national signing day. Teams like bama who are killing it right now will have most their spots filled after next week so that will push some others towards us.

I don’t want to derail this off of recruiting but I agree. Some of the stuff coming out of 247 was just absolutely fiction and that was demonstrated quickly by the actions of the university and Gus. And say what you will about Gus and his personality for the fans and media but the guy is nails when he’s in home with a recruit’s family.

Even the current stuff push the narrative of the negative stuff and how surprised they are that the class is not being affected.

Apparently AU made a huge impression on 4* CB Maurice Hampton & have become a legit threat to flip. Butch Thompson played a big role as Hampton plans to play both football & baseball. He's taking an OV to LSU this weekend where they are hoping to convince him to sign early. As of today, plans to wait

Should also note that LSU is trending with Raydarious Jones another DB & are making a push for Bama commit Christian Williams. Might not be connected but something to watch...
