But the WR vs. CB and our old staff being lazy might have cost us had we not gotten him to visit again. ----

Where does it say he flipped? We didn't stand a chance, until the visit, due to a bad tactic we refused to relent on. It might have cost us. (We don't know)

I am pretty careful about my choice of words, especially ATP. Errbody be goin' all "Gene's Chin" about it!!

The recruiting sites in the early days didn't do as good a job and let a ton of kids slip through the cracks, not get evaluated or evaluated by an amateur.

While they still have a lot of room to grow, they are definitely way better today at evaluating and volume of evaluations than say pre 2010 which are classes of most NFL players

Only thing I'll say on the matter because its been discussed ad nauseam is that the 5* guys at the top of the draft (ie Clowney) go to shitty teams and are far less likely to make a Super Bowl.

I'm not throwing stones at them. I'm just trying to evaluate based on the numbers/claims that have been made. For instance, it is being asserted that the reason there aren't five stars in the Super Bowl (and not be Toby's good point later) is that they are such a small population. Granted, they are a small population, but they are a selected population. Just like the population of NCAA football players is dwarfed by non-NCAA football players; however, all but one of the two deep players in the Super Bowl played NCAA football.

Moreover, I am not sure how much value I get from the statements about all X NC teams have had Y recruiting finishes. One of the knocks I have heard is that a player gets a high rating because good teams recruit them. You can even find teams in the top 15 of the recruiting ratings over a combined five years with pedestrian records (e.g. Tennessee).

They may have been bad, still be bad, excellent, or improved excellent, I don't know and don't have enough info to make an opinion, but the back-and-forth doesn't seem to answer the questions, they just seem to invite more questions. I thought somebody may have the answers, so that is why I was asking.

Josh Newberg is predicting Auburn for Cowart

But there are rumors out there that Cowart is visiting FSU this weekend

If you really want to discuss whether recruiting stars matter, etc...go to the thread on the recruiting board or start your own thread over there. The topic has been discussed ad nauseam here

He is super serious about his major and doing broadcast/journalism type stuff. No joke, he showed up on his OV and that was the first thing he wanted to hear about.

I would be pretty shocked if FSU stood a chance since they don't have that.

If he's serious about his major then I don't think FSU has anything to sell him on.

Because you can do that with any major. It is not as cut and dry as people think.

FSU's is no where near as sports intensive as AU's or UFs. Plus I doubt they have shown him a 3 year plan to get his sports journalism degree like we have.

Yes and no. Byron likes Laewing. Cece loves him. Durkin was Byron's lead at UF not Lawing.
