This really sucks. This guy was one of my favorite recruits and I really thought we had him in the bag. I don't see why we even recruit the state of Alabama. When was the last time we signed a quality recruit from the state of Alabama? I say take the funds and redirect our efforts to other states. There is plenty of talent in states like Ohio, Virginia, DC, and Florida that we can tap into without wasting the recruiting time, energy, and money on players that are either marginal to begin with, or that will eventually sign with Bama or Auburn.

Davis has the height and weight for the inside linebacker position at the BCS level of competition. His frame appears capable of supporting additional body mass over time, although a growth spurt would be helpful. He is a tough customer who tackles very well. He is consistent in space demonstrating the wrap and finish needed to knock ball carriers back to where they came from and doesn't allow leaky yards after contact. Moves through traffic very well, showing sideline-to-sideline range. He displays the ability to open his hips and drop for depth with eyes on the quarterback. Shows good underneath route awareness with a feel for receivers in his area. His athleticism suggests potential as a man coverage defender. He has the ball skills needed to make the high-point interception. Is effective rushing the passer and shows good first-step quickness along with the agility needed to avoid and step over the low block when rushing off the edge. He walks up into the line to play from a three-point stance demonstrating the first-step quickness needed to beat offensive linemen across the line.

His intensity and motor are what we look for when evaluating the inside linebacker position. Davis possesses the toughness and athleticism needed to play early at the BCS level of competition.
