I am still taking Sean's word to Hoke's. Hoke never used a quote from Sean saying he was offered right after his visit. 247 has quotes of Sean saying he was offered this morning.
quote:

Sean White got a message on Twitter from Auburn offensive coordinator Rhett Lashlee on Tuesday morning. He told me to call [Tigers coach] Gus Malzahn," White told Auburn Undercover.

White quickly dialed Malzahn's number, and when the coach answered he had good news for the four-star quarterback from Fort Lauderdale (Fla.) University School.

"He offered me, and I committed right then," White said.

Maybe we can hurry up and get him recruiting and really tied to the class just in case ND offers.
I am not worried about that anymore. Quote from Sean.
quote:

I'm committed to Auburn, that's where I'm going to school," said White. "I know I'm blowing up and getting other offers, but Auburn is the place I want to go. It doesn't matter who else offers, Auburn is the best place in the country.

Him immediately taking the offer shows me that he knows being the only QB in a class for an SEC team is as good as it gets. ND won't change anything by offering IMO, since they already have a QB

I found this from an ESPN interview but I wish they would offer so it will be over with and we could tell it is just not the high from getting the offer talking. He seems to think alot of Gus picking him as his QB.

quote:

White recently admitted that Notre Dame was his childhood favorite team and he would love to play for the Fighting Irish. So if Notre Dame offered late, would White listen to their offer? "No, sir," White said emphatically. "Auburn is the place I want to play. It's a great school. I think it's the best school in the country."

What's our problem with safeties? We can never land any top guys besides Florence who was a huge bust

It is a weird phenomenon. A lot like our QB woes (obviously except for Cam)

I don't think Brandon King's recruiting ranking or star value reflect just how good of a safety or STAR prospect he is. He has all of the tools to be a superstar. And we also have Derrick Moncrief committed for the 2014 class. He is rated highly. Two, big safeties, but they haven't seen the field yet. It's a positive under Gus Malzahn so far.

You're right, though. Under Gene Chizik, aside from Erique Florence and Robenson Therezie (who now plays STAR and started at cornerback), we had trouble in that area.

A lot of that was we didn't recruit many true safeties under the Chiz. We recruited CBs and athletes and moved them back there. It seems the new strategy is to get bigger more physical guys (see Harding, King, Alexander, and Moncrief)

Clark is the big one left IMO. Gotta haul him in and I am still holding out hope Ruffin can help flip McDowell but I will be ok losing him if we get Clark

I should have specified that I was referring to HS prospects. I'm high on King and Moncrief, but both seem like hard hitters who fit at the STAR moreso than the two safety positions. We need to start landing quality HS guys that are true coverage safeties if we want a complete defense

I agree, although I think they could play both ways. It's hard to tell right now with both not being in game situations for us yet.

Agreed. Even when we landed Robenson Therezie and Erique Florence, they weren't known for coverage coming out. They were mainly known for their hard hitting ability. IIRC correctly, Erique Florence even got burned really bad during the Under Armour All American Game. And he had all the potential in the world and was one of my favorite recruits, I just wish he could have been successful for Auburn.

I was the same way. But when he came into his sophomore season still at 185lbs, it was obvious he wasn't putting in the work the be successful. That work ethic, or lack thereof, was a microcosm of the whole team, so I'm glad it seems like everyone else is buying into Russell's workouts

I think they have to buy into it, or Gus will tell them to GTFO.

I'll take that over a coach that is soft and will let them do as they please. I don't care how many stars they had coming in or plays they've made at Auburn.

Which is why I expected a few more players to leave the program. I'm pleasantly surprised at the low attrition
