quote:Midnight Sunday night. There is a 1 day quiet period today that started 40 minutes ago. During the quiet period today there can be person to person contact on campus so theoretically RE can be on campus all day today.
What time does the dead period start?

Being told one of the Tiger Transit buses had been turned into a pseudo Party Bus for the party after the initial stuff on campus. The ridiculousness continues.
per al.com
quote:
"Auburn University head football coach Gus Malzahn has pulled out unprecedented stops to try and land highly touted recruit Rashaan Evans. Many coaches have to deal with suppressing boosters who occasionally offer or provide benefits deemed impermissible by the NCAA to recruits in hopes of aiding the school's cause. They mostly instead promise recruits playing time, advertise marvelous facilities, and sell prestigious academics. Speaking with Alan Evans, Rashaan's father, Auburn has taken things a step further,
"They told Rashaan today at [Rashaan's grandfather's birthday] party that they have a special thing, a special deal lined up for him. He's going to somehow be in his favorite movie series during one of the summers when they are in [Atlanta]."
You read that right. Auburn Athletics has told al.com that Malzahn and the University have been in verbal negotiations with Warner Bros. to work Evans into a small capacity casting role, adding up to about five minutes of on-screen air time in the next Batman movie, the first in a new series based on the historic comic book hero. The film is in very early developmental stages and earliest filming would begin in the summer of 2016, according to Hollywood insiders.
These days it is incredible what lengths coaching staffs are going just to sway high school football talent their way and earn that precious signature of big-time recruits. Coach Nick Saban, it's your move."

Somebody over on 247 compiled all the claimed to be insiders predictions on Evans. Here it is:
quote:
-Itoldalthea: "From what I have been told from people close to the situation, and close to Rashaan,he will be at Auburn next year. I believe that to be true. "
-AUJyo: "Ran into one of my buddies at the bar last night who's cousin is a scout for Auburn. Believes 100% we'll land Evans, Smith and Williams. Also said 2 guys will be flipping to AU on NSD. Wouldn't tell me who but I guessed Godchaux and Harris and he got real quiet"
-BigtimeAub: Quote me if you want, ban me forever and ever if I'm wrong, but I'm here to tell you that Alan is playing the roll of troll of all trolls and anyone buying that crap is doing nothing but feeding the troll. Alan is eating up the attention and wants nothing more than to stir the pot. You could say that Alan is living vicariously through Rashaan right now and he wants the eyes of the world on Rashaan's announcement. Anything he does and says between now and RE's announcement is just to keep the drama and attention up. If Alan could go live on ESPN for every waking moment between now and RE's ceremony, non-stop, like a 24/7 reality show of Alan Evans, he would do it. I have it on good authority that RE is all AU, has been, and Alan is all show. This is like Alan's second chance to prove himself to the world and is doing so through Rashaan, and he is eating it up. But, for all of the overly emotional sissy types out there that have to freak out at the drop of a hat, please, continue to panic and "just die" every time Alan yanks your short hairs (knowing that he's going to get the reaction out of you that you're giving him). Carry on. For the rest of us, Rashaan is coming to Auburn. His mind is made up and has been for quite a while, despite what Keith, Bryan, Penny, or writers from any other site might type up and post on the interwebz. Take a deep breath and smile. We got this.
-TexasTide21 (Bama poster) As you guys know, I rarely have information about recruits, but I certainly have one here for sure. I've kept quiet about it, because things were cloudy for a while. What ChaseUA said in his thread about Evans this morning is spot on. I contacted my source who is very, very, very close to the Evans' family and he is indeed all Auburn. He loves Saban and his mind likes Bama but his heart is in Lee County, AL. Unless something major changes, that's what it will be. Ladies and gentlemen, the time has come to move forward from him. Nice get for the Tigers. RTR!
-Tim Watts: I would say 30% right now maybe. AU the team to beat. Have not heard decision is made. People close to AU don't seem convinced its over. But AU has made top priority and deservingly so. (CB to auburn)
-Charles Power: UA has a better shot with Evans than most think. I'd put it in the 40-50% range right now. Still a week or so to go, but it's a UA-AU battle with each side having some things working in their favor. (CB to Auburn) -
WarBird: Evans... My source puts it at 95% AU. Says his heart truly is at Auburn and really likes Gus. This would be a huge get for AU. -
Bryan Matthews: I'm usually less optimistic, but right now I think Auburn gets R Evans, A Williams and B Smith and a DB. (CB to Auburn) 65% to Auburn -
Austin Penny: I expect Auburn to land Evans, Williams and Smith. I believe that JUCO WR D'haquille Williams will contribute the most next season. (CB to Auburn)- 70% to Auburn -
Keith: 60% to Auburn, CB to Auburn. Someone who knows Evans well thinks it looks good for Auburn right now, and that his heart is with the Tigers. This person also cited staying close to his parents and brother was a factor. But ... he does not feel this one is over. Right now, the Tigers staff apparently feels the same way. The best phrase to describe it: cautiously optimistic. Apparently, the Tigers just haven't gotten the sense one way or another what Evans will do. That said, they think they've done a great job selling the defense, the program, the school, etc.
-Grady Jr (bama poster): To pull that big steal from auburn. We get at least one big one every recruiting year. :) (Note no mention of any specific player) -
Chase UA (bama poster): A friend of mine from Enterprise knows Alan Evans (Rashaan's father) very well and we had a lengthy conversation last night. I've debated on whether or not to share what I gathered as I know I will be down-voted to oblivion since it's not what people want to hear, however I figured some may appreciate it: Auburn is where Rashaan's heart is but his brain has been Alabama's since November. He said ultimately he expects his heart to win out as he is receiving a lot of pressure from both family and friends to choose the hometown Tigers. Surprisingly, he said that Alan is the only one in the "inner circle" that doesn't seem to be steering Rashaan towards AU. He states despite what's being said publicly that Alan still has concerns over AU's plans involving Rashaan and how that will translate to his skill set. Alan is a huge fan of Coach Saban and "the process". He also mentioned that Alan thinks it would be nice for Rashaan to get away from home a bit for college so he can develop into a man and hopefully develop into a guy with a long NFL career. With all that said he stated that Rashaan is more open to AU's plans for him (perhaps teenage naivety?) after meeting with Coach Ellis and that his most recent visit to them was enough to seal the deal for the Barn. He stated that AU guaranteed him early playing time and all but guaranteed he would start his first game there. He states Bama made no such promises but reiterated that they did not plan to redshirt him but any playing time would have to be earned and that he would be given a chance to do so.
-Walls98 (bama poster)- downright adamant that Evans is "barn" bound.
- Shannon Terry, Barton Simmins, Kipp Adams, UGA mods, : CB to Auburn -
JC Shurburtt: "shocked if Evans ended up anywhere but auburn." CB to Auburn -
Scout predictions: Both pick Evans to Bama -
Rivals mod Justin Hokanson: If signing day were today: Auburn for Evans -
pricepro79- "Talked to someone close to Evans family, has known the family for years, like brothers and sister... Evans going to Auburn -
athlete96: "I am friends with two guys that played in the MS-AL all-star game. both hung out with Evans a lot and say he is all Auburn" -
Mercertiger11- "from a family member of a current commit, Evans to Auburn. Spoke to his nephew and teammate and all Auburn
. -LB7: "when its all said and done, evans will sign with Auburn."
-Walk on 85: "He told Gus and his parents he was an Auburn man at the end of his visit.
" -Austudnt23: "Evans will be an AU Tiger"
-Andrew Bone (Bama mod on rivals): Evans is an AU lean -
Bigbird: "myself feel very confident in AU signing Evans" As of now, AU is #1
-Aupops2: "FWIW, based on information I received this morning, we survived their best shot, and for now, everything looks good."

I have never seen so many people with sources on one player. Rashaan must know and talk to half of Alabama about where he is going.

quote:Been talking to him. He was there. Did around a baker's dozen jello shots with the birthday boy (I mean, what's better than jello for an 80 year old dude). We lost contact with GC about 4 hours ago...there's also Evans party pictures on twitter of some guy passed out with a very large sharpie mushroom tattoo on his face. Coincidence? Unlikely...sources are 85% confident.
GenesChin is prob there haha, too bad he's cant be here

So we've basically gone full 'tard for Evans
How in the hell is Gus going to get him in the next Batman movie
I mean both me and the NCAA would love to know how that works
*Unless that was a troll post then frick you for posting
Seriously though, my personal thoughts on Evans is that the kid just needs to suck it up and literally take one for the home team. If he's half as good as people say he is we need him more than most of us need our left nut. All he has to sacrifice is 3 more years in Auburn and he'll have enough money to travel anywhere in the freaking world.
Also I will punch a baby on Wednesday if we lose a recruit we need this desperately to Bama when he practically live on our campus

Grandpa Evans is going to be very disappointed with his 81st birthday party.

"Alan Evans said Malzahn was accompanied by the entire defensive staff from Auburn while Smart was joined by fellow Alabama assistants Lance Thompson, Burton Burns and Bo Davis"
"Both staffs were very cordial to each other. They ended up hanging out together and both trying to talk to Rashaan whenever they could."
