That's what I expect too. I mean, he honestly doesn't fit anywhere else and he would be a monster at that role. Saw him at the IB with his brother and Ricky is huge.

Has anybody watched tape on him or are we just celebrating flipping another from Bama? I remember when he moved into the top 10 prospects from Georgia everybody laughed their asses off bc of overrated he was. Or is he really good?

Bama fans seem to think it's very likely. Some are starting to use their typical "it's not a big deal if he flips" excuse over on the recruiting board.

ESPN's analysis

quote:

Overall, Bessent is a very talented cornerback prospect and a potential scheme versatile DB as his size, range and ballhawk attributes might tempt coaches to deploy him at safety in certain schemes or Nickel. Should be a valuable member of special teams coverage units as well. Has the size and length to develop into a press corner as well, but will need to develop more strength and become a bigger physical presence before he's really effective in that facet at the next level.

He's got a lot of talent with the ball in the air.

This.

If he can improve his quickness just a tad and maybe his overall speed a tad, he's got as much upside as almost any corner in the '14 class. Very good player. But he jumps routes and plays the ball in the air in an elite fashion.

Sounds a lot like the knocks and plus sides of Jonathan Banks to me. Melvin Smith did coach him too. I'd be okay with having that caliber of CB

He reminds me a lot of Kirkpatrick to be honest. Obviously not quite as talented coming out of HS, but very similar playing style. I would Bassent is probably a bit more agile.

Doesn't look like the staff even wants Bessent anymore if he's the only one of about 50 kids not even getting a visit this week.

From the cruitin board -

Hearing nothing really. Strange thing about it is that our staff has hit the recruiting trail hard this week with visits, but no word yet on a visit to him. Even some of our three stars have already got visits.

I have been keeping track of this as well. I was waiting til the week ended and they not visit before I said something about it.
