Falcons talk tends to dominate the airwaves on the local sports talk shows. I think it's easier to talk football year round given the various phases of the offseason (combine, free agency, draft, mini camps, camp, preseason). Based on that, I think the Falcons would be number 1 in importance, strictly because of how big the NFL has gotten.
I think you'll find more hardcore and dedicated baseball fans, though (like you mentioned). This includes me.
The season is so danged long, that by the end of it I don't really care to follow up on it as passionately as I do football.
Unlike you, however, I still want another World Series much more than a Super Bowl. A World Series win means I probably just experienced 7 straight months of pure fun (essentially every day of those 7 months). There is also nothing better to me than the anticipation of a playoff series and the building intensity as each game is played.

There are more Falcons fans than Braves fans in the metro Atlanta area. Not sure if that totally answers the question.

It means more saints fans show up for the falcons home game in Atlanta than falcons fans.
Its a town with no personality. It has no personality because no one grows up there. It's people from all over who have their own teams interest, not the atl.

(a) No personality? The home of an entire genre of music and the Civil Rights movement has no personality? Cool. Please tell me more. Is this when you tell me about the times you came to Atlanta and hung out with your cousin in Cumming or Alpharetta and want to act like that is somehow representative of the City?
(b) Right now something like 3M young people are growing up here. And a whole helluva lot of the sons and daughters of those original 1990s transplants grew up here, went to college and are now back here as young professionals running the city. This isn't 1993.
We're a boom town with a great economy, tons of money and people wanting to be here. We've been that way consistently for almost 40 years now. We apologize if that hurts the feelings of towns that are poor and can't grows.
J/K, we're not sorry.

Having lived in New Orleans this is a narrative that only people in NOLA perpetuate to themselves. They like to think that they're the only town with "kultcha".
No one anywhere else can claim having a culture, New Orleans started it, apparently.
You should hear the argument between who started Mardi Gras first - Mobile or New Orleans?! HI-LAR-IOUS shite.

Enjoy Applebees your city sucks there is zero interest to go there by anyone.
Yes you have a good economy and the head quarters of many fortune 500 Co's. I won't dispute that you are better than nkla in that aspect, but you have ziltch when it come to a lifestyle. What the hell is atlana known for. (Civil rights isn't what I'm talking about either)

So you get to decide what a city is known for?

Sounds like you figured it out yourself. Being home to mega money is our lifestyle. Somebody has to work around here.
Also, did you know Atlanta has the busiest airport in the world? 100 million passengers per year, Beijing is in a distant second. You can keep Bourbon St and the Dome, I'll take the Benz, the Braves, the climate, and proximity to beaches and mountains. Oh, and I can be at the airport in about 30 minutes and headed anywhere in the world. Does New Orleans even have an airport? I'll even let you borrow our Six Flags since yours got shut down and can't seem to reopen.

Louisiana is last in education, poverty, and obesity. Your "culture" is people talking in some language between English and retard, and an otherworldly high violent crime rate. NOLA has good food and a good bar scene but not much else. You can find that stuff anywhere if you aren't picky.
But by all means, keep pretending that this is 1820 and NOLA is one of the thriving cities in the U.S. Your dwindling population says otherwise.

Might as well. Six Flags has already been run over with his culcha'd kind.

The culture being the 4th highest murder rate in the country? It's sad they're too poor to reopen Six Flags because that would probably make the citizens of New Orleans much happier and would reduce the murder rate.

I'm not pretending that Nola is great, but it's a city with roots, Atlanta is not
Ps we do have an airport with a non stop to Houston not to shabby....

The frick you talking about? There's no point in continuing the conversation if you are going to ignore the historical significance of Atlanta. The difference between Atlanta and New Orleans is that Atlanta actually progressed over time and remained relevant in the important aspects of life. New Orleans looks like you jumped in a time machine and went back in time.

New Orleans is like the drunk older brother of southern cities who hit his prime 40 years ago.Atlanta,Houston,
Nashville,Charlotte and even Jacksonville have passed him by.
