Probably not, now that 20-30 games wont be played.
they said the start of the season would be delayed. I'd imagine they'll attempt to play all 162 unless the delay lasts for much longer. The problem is that if they simply remove the early games from the schedule, you'll end up with a drastically unbalanced schedule scenario (in terms of intra division games).

Don't know if it's feasible but I wonder if they could cancel interleague games and tweak the schedule from there?

Or just go to a perfect 100 game season. They should use this as the excuse to do that change permanently.

It is so bizarre I'm not getting ready to watch the Braves on Fox Sports South.
It is this, more than any other major event or cancellation, that tells me something is incredibly different this year than years past. The absence of baseball in April is something I cannot fathom.

Got 20 minutes to kill? Watch the 9th inning brawl in the 8/12/84 Braves-Padres game.

If you don't know the background, watch this.

Looks like MLB will be implementing a 48 game season.
Mets winning NL East.

If MLB doesn't play this season... I'm really done with it.
With the NBA likely moving to a December start full-time, you're looking at a calendar year that has NFL from August-February, and an NBA season running from December to July.
With college football and a smattering of March Madness, a dash of major golf, and the NHL playoffs... I promise you I won't miss it. Tired of the dispute between the players and owners. The players don't have a salary cap so I couldn't care less about them, and the owners are too short-sighted to just give the players a 90% pro-rate over say, 80-100 games to take advantage of a captive national audience.
Always knew that baseball was never going to catch football. Never imagined it may take it's place next to hockey in the lexicon of American sports.

I’ve begun to enjoy college baseball more than the MLB. Shorter season, still great play, and usually the seating provides a much better view of everything that happens

Is this true? I've been advocating for this for years. It never made any sense to me that the NBA was always on during the same time as college football, NFL, and NHL. I would be tempted to actually start watching again if it were on during the summer.

I still remember one of the Braves replacement pitchers being killed right before the season was to begin with replacement players. ( AJC article from March about Dave Shotkoski)

Both sides are posturing because I believe this is the least year of the CBA that is currently in place. No one wants to look like they gave in and appear weak when the regular CBA comes up for renegotiation.
It does piss me off though. I assumed baseball would be the first American professional sports league back, especially seeing how the KBO has shown that it can be done.

Fangraphs has their ZiPS projections out for the 60 game season:
Projects Braves and Nationals to both go 34-26, and finishing atop the NL East.
Using the old "Win 2/3rds of your games at home and half of your games on the road" formula for making the playoffs (which doing that would place the Braves at 35-25), I like the ZiPS projection.
Will be very interesting to see how this Magic Double in extra innings plays out. I think the Braves have a good roster to take advantage of the NL DH in 2020.

I take it all games at Truist will have no fans?

White Sox and Cubs are looking at 20% or so. Teams are going to do what they can to get as many butts in the seats as they can since they know they are having games in their home stadiums.

good lol.
With Freeman likely out for half the season (i'm just putting a wild arse guess on it that he'll be out for a month), I'd like for this season to be Pache and Waters time. With Ozuna as the DH, Riley/Duvall at 1st, and Camargo at 3rd, we'll likely need one or both of them to start in the outfield day 1. This has me excited. I just want baseball, and yes...I'll watch every game and hope like hell that they can do something come postseason time, but in the end it just won't mean as much to me as a normal season, so might as well get the youngs guys some time.

Opening day lineup?
I know Snit said Acuña will always be leadoff but with Freddie out I feel like it might be a good idea to move him.
A few possible lineups I see:
1. Acuña (RF)
2. Albies (2B)
3. Austin Riley (1B/3B)
4. Ozuna (LF)
5. D’Arnaud (C)
6. Duvall/Inciarte (CF)
7. Dansby (SS)
8. Camargo (3B/1B)
9. Culberson (DH)
1. Inciarte/Duvall (CF)
2. Albies (2B)
3. Acuña (RF)
4. Ozuna (LF)
5. Austin Riley (1B/3B)
6. D’arnaud (C)
7. Dansby (SS)
8. Camargo (3B/1B)
9. Culberson (DH)

i just remembered that we also have Yonder Alonso lurking in the background (minor contract?). He'll likely get a longer look this "spring" than he would have otherwise. If Riley really struggles during camp then it wouldn't really surprise me to see the veteran-loving Snit go with Yonder. I wouldn't like it, but it wouldn't surprise me.
