Yep. Petrino ain't the problem. What we need, IMO, is for Pittman to stay far away from the team. He is the HC and he infects our team.

I've said it until I'm blue in the face, but what we need is a coach that holds players accountable and can squeeze every drop of talent from the 3 star kids that we get. We caught lightning in a bottle once with Petrino, and I want him to have a second chance as the HC to see if we can recreate what he did the first go around.

Unrealistic fans expect Petrino to make chicken salad out of chicken shite. Make it all elite within one year. That isn't going to happen. Not with the issues that involve QB, WR and OL.

He had the correct offensive talent to (fall into his lap) so to speak. Recruiting will always be a problem with Petrino. However, NIL ... if we would find a way to pick it up, would make a difference indeed.

Blaming Pittman is like blaming a business manager for a business owners ineptitude.

With a proper football NIL and a serious administration, who knows how many more wins Pittman would have by now. He’d have more breathing room to learn on the job and more forgiveness by fans. Of course Pittman probably wouldn’t have been hired in the first place either.

I've thrown a few bowling balls like that before. Where it starts in one gutter and then kinda goes well till it ends in another gutter.....

It looks like Petrino had the same type of recruiting classes that came before and after his time at Arkansas.

He was just better at player development than the rest.

Petrino coached up every ounce of talent that he had while he was at Arkansas and exceeded expectations in both the 2010, 2011 seasons.

Lamar Jackson was a three star recruit and made him a heisman trophy winner.

Rankings don’t tell the whole story

DaleDenton did a great breakdown at one time on where the individual players ended up after Petrino signed them. It was a story of woeful retention rate and lots of duds. Long story short was that we were going to be in a world of hurt for talent in short order with or without Petrino.

Eta same thing happened at Louisville after he left

I feel like Petrino doesn't get anywhere near enough credit for the development of those players. Chris Gragg was a prime example. A 2 star WR from Warren turned into an NFL TE sitting behind DJ Williams. That's not just talent falling into your lap. That's good coaching and development.

His player development skills are top notch. Always have been.

Trey flowers, Darius Philon, Brandon Allen, deatrich wise, Jonathon Williams were all Bobby Petrino recruits. The best players on bielemas best teams were Petrino holdovers. The only players he brought in that were worth a shite were some of the lineman, Alex and Hunter Henry, and drew morgan who probably would’ve came to Arkansas anyway

We don't know that for sure and making assumptions doesn't make it fact.

What we do know is that Arkansas lost 19 seniors off that 2011 team. Enter John L. Smith and not a single player off that 2012 team had any player development. They were happy mean Petrino was gone. Everyone now slack off, celebrate by eating sonic blasts. Everything was great until ULM came, destroyed those hopes and dreams. 17 more Petrino senior players are gone due to graduation or ran out of eligibility. John L. Smith came here for his $800,000 check and had no interest in his job. That one year off goofing of with John L. did more damage than anything else.

What would Petrino do if he was the coach during the 2013? We don't know but I'm very confident he wouldn't have given Arkansas the very first SEC 0-8 season in school history, doesn't matter how good or terrible his recruiting retention was.

Yet if it weren't for KJ they never would have been in the game. Once again for the 20th or so time he took a team on his back and threw a rope for the go ahead TD

Funny he owns the majority of Qb records at the university weird right?

I guess so when one side can't get over thier hurt feelings about a player and ignores the facts that said player was one of the few key reasons the team won there's really nowhere to go.

Had to revisit this thread 9 months later.

Since then KJ got benched 5 games into the season and didn't play again, and then went undrafted.

On the bright side I did see he was ranked the 28th best undrafted QB available.... out of 28.

Hope he put some of that NIL into savings.
