We should just hire the last coach Baylor had.

Or we could have just had Les Miles, who has Kansas leading Texas in Austin for the first time since 1997.

Sure didn't take him long to win and compete and they were far worse off than us.

Not to go all ACKCHUALLY on you, but Kansas just beat Texas like 3 years ago to seal Charlie Strong's fate.

EDIT - I'm a dumbass who didn't read

Posted this in another thread also but just thought it was interesting that Rhule had a losing record through 3 years at Temple like Chad did at SMU. He did win 10 games in his 4th and final year there though.

Of course it works out for them but not us.

Rhule is one of the "make them say no" coaches on the list we HAVE to contact. Sure, he turned down the Colts, but that was more about wanting to stay in the college game.

We have a lot of appeal to coaches like him who want to stay in college, as this league is the apex and we have all the facilities and support any coach could need.

We HAVE to try.

I love Rhule and would take him in a heartbeat, but I think his buyout is prohibitive.

He signed a extension earlier this year that reportedly has one of the largest buyouts in college football.

Report: Matt Rhule’s buyout in new contract is “among the top buyouts in the industry”

I'm all in on the Bill Clark train. Art Briles could do it too, but i think we all know that ain't happening.

Leach could do it as well, or at least get the program back to 6-7 wins every year, but he still loses some inexplicable games, sticks at recruiting, and he takes 3-4 years to get the program going. Remember, he lost to a 1-AA team his first or second year at wazzu. I used to think that was a deal breaker but we've lost so much to inferior teams in the last 8 yrs I don't even care anymore.

Whomever they hire they absolutely must have a track record of rebuilding from a garbage heap... And they're ain't many coaches or they're with that kind of resume.

I wish set could get Someone who understands and loves Arkansas like the old days instead of a hired gun, but there really is only 2 or 3 guys (Butch Davis, Norvell, and Gus) who for that profile

I'd nominate Jeff Monken to be our Matt Rhule but Army has absolutely fallen off a cliff this season after losing their DC to North Carolina.

Leach lost to an FCS team his 4th year at Wazzu and then followed that up with another loss the next year. Leach will win some games he shouldn't but he will absolutely lose games he has no business losing. Still, he's a massive upgrade over Morris but so is my cat and she spends her days asleep or licking her naughty bits.
