***GO TO PG 2 FOR UPDATE***

Per NY post after today's loss to Creighton:

quote:

Anderson’s job status is clearly up in the air. The one thing that could save him is a significant buyout, believed to be close to $10 million after athletic director Mike Cragg gave him a contract extension two years ago through the 2026-27 season.

Dysfunctional St. John’s falls to Creighton as two players sit out

What the hell has Mike done to earn any extension at SJ? That’s just giving money away.

He was coach of the year a couple seasons ago when he got the extension. He didn’t set the conference on fire but it was St. John’s first winning conference record in like seven years.

This.

We all want success for Mike. If it can't be on the court then hopefully in life as long as we don't fit the bill.

Contracts have gone nuts. How on earth is St Johns basketball and $10m ever in the same sentence

Has SJ been relevant since Felipe Lopez played?

This. Mike is a Razorback at heart and immediately took a new job after we let him go resulting us saving a ton of money. He was honorable and classy about the whole deal and had earned his shot under Nolan. I have zero hard feelings towards Mike Anderson and wish him the best in life. From all I've ever heard or seen, he's a class act.

Anyone who dislikes Mike is dumb. He didn’t set the program back. He righted the ship, he just didn’t take it as far as everyone wanted. Without Mike, Muss couldn’t have just came in and hopefully go back to back to back elite 8s…

He is basically Pittman for basketball, except 2 years ago with the Outback bowl, I believe Sam went further than Mike did.

Pelphrey wasn't as bad as some people seem to think. He had the fire that we like outta Muss but was a little immature and didn't have the X's and O's that Muss has. But he got us to the tourney and the SEC Tourney championship game the tornado year. He needed to go when he did but I have no hate for that guy. Especially after that snoozer in Stan Heath.

Are you kidding me?? Aside for that one or two week stretch we beat OU and Texas I can think of very few bright spots

Pelphrey won more games that week than he did the rest of the season. Goodness they were bad.

No he was worse, that 2-16 year was historically bad.

I was at the Morgan State game and you could hear a mouse pissing on cotton. He took the program to new lows. We had record low attendance for Bud Walton while he was here.

I met one of the players getting a tattoo, he said he coached scared during every big game. During a Kentucky, Texas and Florida games he looked scared and super nervous.

Is that a bad thing, in it’s self? Probably not. If it shows to your players, probably is.

Yeah but think of where we were with Nolan compared to where we were at that point. It wasn't all his fault. But it was certainly time for him to go.

My dude, he was absolutely horrific.

I watched him in several games live, he sucked. He lost his players, and forced them to lay down and have a good bleed.. wth? LINK

On family day, with all these little kids in the building. He cursed like a sailor on meth. Not just a sailor mind ya, but jacked up!

Now with that said, He, Billy Donovan, and Anthony Grant worked together at Florida and were a great team of coaches. They also held another bond. All three had a child lost in birth with their wives. All three (I believe) have went on to work with organizations to help mothers, and children. Remember Pel's Pals?
