This will be Arkansas's third trip there in four years.

Only a bona fide retard would want to fire a coach who takes his team to the tourney three out of his last four seasons.

I mean a true retard

Damn. I thought you had higher expectations than just making the tournament. Does it bother you that we haven't been to the sweet 16 since '96? You may not remember this, but we were once a powerhouse in BB. It would sure be nice to get there again.

Some fans just want to rah rah and some fans want to win.

Hell yeah! I won't lie. I was excited tonight and I had a gut feeling in the 2nd half that we were going to pull it out. We looked tough in that 2nd half and our shot selection was good.

So what are you saying here, that Anderson has been our coach that entire time and he's the reason we haven't been there in 20+ years?

3 out of the last 4. That's what matters NOW.

If you don't GO to the fricking tournament, you can't make the sweet sixteen.

Man, some of you guys are really dense.

Link?

Irony is claiming this in a thread where you are bitching about a coach not meeting "expectations" or "doing enough" when Mike has had his team playing for as many SEC Titles as Van Horn in half the amount of time.

I also love how people shift the goal posts.

"We ain't gonna make the tournament. Our players don't even belong on a Division One team. We suck."

"Umm. Actually we WILL make the tournament."

"Well we won't make the Sweet Sixteeeeen!!!! DERP!!"

The LSU loss is the only one that hurts...

Have you not seen what Auburn has done this year?

White Knight for Mike all you want brother. Doesn't change that he hasn't accomplished anything in 7 years here. Two NCAA tourney wins in 6 years. Not really tearing it up. But yeah, I'm dumb for wanting more.

I don't know. That Houston game still haunts us. The blowout losses are going to kill our seeding if we make the tourney. On the other side of that we won close games at home against Ole Miss, Mizzou, and Tennessee. Why have we been so bad on the road compared to other conference opponents. Hell, I forgot about (or blocked out) the blowout loss to UF.

If we can string some wins together right now, with OSU being one of them, then that will really put us back in a good spot. We can't afford to get blown out any more.

I hope they prove me wrong. Back to back SEC wins and that first road win may have them playing confident again. I hope so. I really do.

Conference titles really only matter in football and Bama has won two titles now when they weren't conference champs.

DVH has had 3 opportunities to play for a national championship. If he keeps getting to the CWS then odds are in his favor to eventually get one. If he petered out every season in the regional then I would feel the same way about him as I do Mike.

A program like ours should expect to make it to the Sweet 16 every year. It won't always happen, but we should be there most years. Apparently it's not important to some of you.

Making the tournament is no small accomplishment. Probably akin to something like a New Year's Day bowl game (back when the bowl game dates made sense).

Once you're in it, anything can happen. Mike has had two teams that were good enough to make it to the sweet sixteen. Ended up with a really tough matchup with UNC both times. One of those we really outplayed UNC but got some really bad calls at the end (UNC went on to win the whole thing).

If we get slightly better bracket positioning/matchups, it's not hard to see how we could've made it further in the tournament.

Point is, even though Mike hasn't got us there yet, it's not hard to see that he has been knocking on the door. And he's doing so consistently enough for me to believe he'll get there in the near future.

He took Mizzou to the elite 8 and almost to the final four.

Hoping he can do the same here. Last year we were one or two plays away from that goal.

Man, some of you people are delusional as frick.
NOBODY makes it to the Sweet Sixteen every season. To expect to make it to the Sweet Sixteen every year is only setting yourself up for disappointment.

A couple other things. Conference championships absolutely DO matter. ??? Are you retarded for real?

Also, when Anderson gets his team to the NCAAt he is, in fact, putting his team in position to win a national title. Same as Van Horn. So your hypocrisy is on display here for everyone to see.

Edited for sandy vaginas.

Hard to make sense of the irrationality any other way. They literally criticize the man for the exact same things they celebrate other people for.

Eh. But I suppose it's not nice to point these things out. I'll edit the post.

People are hypocrites, that shouldn't surprise you.

It has nothing to do with being nice, your statement just opens the door to a pointless debate that isn't going to prove anything

Completely agree here. But to expect to be one of the top 68 teams and make the tournament each year is not asking too much. With our history and tradition that's a reasonable expectation.

Arkansas high school basketball has been a lot better in recent years, so no excuse for lack of instate talent. A good coach gets to the tournament every year or almost every year. Not 2 out of 6 years, and not even the NIT 3 of those years.

I couldn't have been more excited when we hired Anderson, I thought he'd turn it around and bring us back to a top program. At this point, in year 7 with 6 seniors, 2 of the top guards in the league and a potential lottery pick and we're arguing about whether we make the tournament and if we do, at best a 7 seed, c'mon man. I don't get what's wrong with expecting more than that out of my team and a "great coach."

I'm not rooting for us to lose, I absolutely hope we turn it around and Mike proves all the haters wrong. But if we don't keep this momentum going and make a big run at the end of this season I think we HAVE to make a change. Next season will be a lot tougher with 6 freshmen and the continued upward trend of SEC competition.

So, you quote that, but not the next line where I concede you won't always make it to the Sweet 16. You've called me stupid and retarded for wanting more from our BB program. I don't understand being satisfied with two tourney wins in 6 years. You seem satisfied with it. Good for you. Low expectations are easily met.
