Ok. It does mean that you don't tell them to leave the team though

Yeah.....if LSU offers an LSU kid then they are going to LSU. Wish we had that type of loyalty in Arkansas

20 years of above average success and 3 NC, will do that man.

Telling them they aren't guaranteed a starting spot doesn't equal telling them to leave. You want him to lie to them?

Sam probably didn't tell them to leave if that happened. He probably told them that they aren't guaranteed being starters for next year. They probably threw a fit a bout it, believing they are intilted those positions. He may have found something better in the portal that can challenge them next year. No one knows as of right now. Some guys like Catalon and Slusher were because they kept showing improvement, these other two did not. Unless a player is really good then they are not guaranteed a spot in the future. Remember when Pool lost his spot during fall practice to Henry? Poor tackling as a result and Henry kept pushing until he took his spot.

If it was an unexpected transfer for them then would you think Odom and Pittman would have put the effort in letting them stay? He did for other players like St. John but why couldn't these two? Maybe they just weren't good enough for the trouble?

What leads you to believe that the coaches didn't try to keep these guys? Do you think OU processed their QB and WR too? LSU their DE that we picked up?

On Foucha showing improvement:
quote:

That performance led to a career-high 68.2 grade on 791 snaps from Pro Football Focus, continuing a steady improvement over his time with the Razorbacks. Foucha earned a 43.9 grade on 142 snaps as a freshman, improved it to a 51.2 on 757 snaps as a sophomore and then to a 64.0 on 633 snaps last year.

Because if they really wanted them here then they wouldn't have transferred. They either made the decision to leave or they were encouraged to do so. But no one knows why and if it was a big deal then more information would have come to light as why they left.

The OU QB left probably because of a coaching change and the same with the WR. That happens in a coaching change. The DE that was picked up dealt with coaching change and a previous injury that buried him in the depth chart. Both schools are not panicking on losing them to Arkansas when they weren't big contributors anyway. If they were players they really wanted then they would make damn sure they didn't transfer especially to a rival SEC or future SEC team. That doesn't mean they aren't any good it just means Arkansas picked them up to patch up needs on the team.

Now that the season is over and some Bama and UGA players will hit the portal does anyone have a list of Transfer Targets we may be going after?

Was just wondering the same thing.

Bama had a few players already in the portal, but Georgia had zero. Have to think a few of them come out from both teams.

Hopefully they have some — especially in the back 7 — that we can haz.

I doubt anyone outside of maybe KJ has a guaranteed starting spot

Georgia and Bama recruit so well that you think they would have a lot hitting the portal but that isn't the case. The depth is so good that they are all on the same talent level and they rotate a lot. So many don't have any reason to leave.

If they do leave then unfortunately they will transfer to another powerhouse in the same conference. Arkansas might be lucky and grab some but they have a better chance of getting some underrated players from smaller FBS or FCS schools.

It'll be interesting to see what their transfers look like now that the championship game is over. I thought we were going to come out fairly unscathed as well until the transfers hit after the Outback bowl was done.

Yeah, there will be a ton on money offers coming to the kids at those schools who didn't see the field much last night. Would be surprised if they aren't both hit pretty hard. I don't think it will be right away though. I bet most of their attrition will be after spring ball.

Sadly they will probably poach teams like us for replacements so this is double edged.

I love our players and am appreciative of what success we had this year. However, who in the world would you have in mind that they may poach

Outside of maybe 1-2 players who are definitive starters, the amount of depth on both of those teams was unbelievable. We simply can not compete with depth/recruiting, and the NIL/Portal is going to make it more difficult imho

Unless rules are implemented for NIL very soon then it will make college football more top heavy than it already is.

I doubt Bama or other teams will poach Arkansas as they don't recruit on the same level as them.

The only things that the portal helped is coaches getting rid of players and the players leaving for more playing time.

Unfortunately it doesn't close the gap with schools like Bama that have or continue cheating at a high level. Why? Because the passion has turned them into mental patients when it comes to Bama football. They even shoot each other over a loss. Who can compete with a bunch of crazy people? No one can and that is why Bama has been so dominant.

The best ones on our team. Just because Burks said no doesn't mean others will. It's unlikely but you think telling a guy like rocket "Hey come to Bama and get a charger and a ring" wouldn't be tempting?

We can't compete with Bama when it comes to money. They will lie, cheat, steal and kill to get any players they want. They have been doing for as long as they can remember and it is part of the Bama DNA.

Dreyden Norwood to Mizzou.
Don't if we didn't want him or he still holds a grudge towards previous staff...

again, re-read what I wrote, still stand by it. Bama's 2 deep is as good at 90% of our team and quite likely more.

Now, I do believe we could have beat them this year... But next year is a different story with their development and roster.

What i saw last night in the NC game was defenses that we can only dream about... Even with Saint Odom as DC. Whelp...
