How was your signing class this week? Do you think PittBoss did a good job bringing in needed talent?
With a couple of breaks (from officials) Arkansas could have had a really good season.

I do considering COVID and we just one of the worst runs in program history. Sam is likable and will be a solid recruiter. We know he's not going to win a national title or get top 5 classes. We just want stability at this point and to build depth.

I can tell you (what you probably already know) that Georgia players, fans, and alumni all liked Pittman a lot and wish him nothing but success with Arkansas. He is where he wants to be at this stage in life and wants to stay until he retires.
We hated to see him go but are happy for him.

What are your thoughts on Netori Johnson? Some of our fans have mentioned they’d like to see us go after him since Pittman recruited him. We have 4 spots for grad transfers.
Our class will probably finish more around 25 which is about what we average but considering what the state of the program has been like I’d say that’s a very good job. The key for us is to keep stacking top 20-25 classes on top of each other if we want to compete, here lately we’ve been having a class ranked 23 one year then 45 the next and the inconsistency in recruiting and coaching turnover is why we have very little depth in most places.
Scott Fountain needs to prove his worth next year though, he was a good recruiter but our special teams were the worst in the conference

The recruiting class was fair and so it was nothing that we have not seen here before. I don't put any emphasis on recruiting classes carved from the internet. The head coach and the staff will determine if they can get the players or not.
He filled needs but getting the players here to be any type of threat in the future has yet to be determined.
We won the games that we won but lost the games that we lost. We are exactly what our record says we are.

He will be here for a short time then he will retire. He will elevate the program to 6-6 and 7-5 each year. He will put us in a better situation for the next coach.

I suspect that he won't be The Guy, but there is a good chance that he is the guy that sets up The Guy. We basically gave ourselves a self imposed death penalty. It won't be a quick fix.
That is probably why some of the names out there, even the ones with ties to the area, went to other schools. You aren't going to be posting a 10 win season here any time soon unless we really catch fire.

Sam isn't Bobby but it will take a lot of time to build up to a 10 win season. We are in the worst shape that we have ever been.
Sam just getting to a bowl bowl is a huge accomplishment.

Close only counts in horseshoes and hand grenades. It is not realistic for Sam Pittman with no prior head coaching experience to get 10 wins in the 4th season.
He will struggle a bit in these next two years.
2021 5-7/6-6
2022 6-6/7-5
2023 7-5/8-4
2024 8-4/9-3
2025 9-3/10-2
Then he retires and sets us in a much better situation for the new coach.

We seem to be able to get good enough skill players, but of course SEC DT's are hard to come by and even harder to build depth at. Linebacker the same to some degree.
OL has not been the best unit since Sam left for Georgia.
For us to compete for a title, we have to get bigger and stronger and get some depth on both lines.

Neither Sam nor Kendal are Bobby, but maybe they can recruit to offset that.
The 2022 class needs to be significantly better if we want to sniff 10 win seasons anytime soon.
Dabo installed a recruiting system at also-ran Clemson and let the talent be the headliner.
Arkansas may not get to that level of recruiting with the current administration and boosters, but we can do a hell of a lot better if we show recruits we’re serious about competing.

It took Clemson a while for them to recruit at a high level. But they also had a cultural change and that was winning.
I don't expect recruiting to change much in these next three years. We are still viewed as the bottom feeder in the SEC that doesn't care a bout winning. If that changes then we can start landing better recruits.
We desperately need a change of culture in our program. Until that happens then it will always be the same boring year after year running in a hamster wheel.
Hopefully Sam can change the loser culture amoung the fans here. Winners always win and losers always lose.

It didn’t take Clemson a while to recruit at a high level.
In year #2 Dabo had the #10 ranked class in the country. The winning culture change you reference followed that.
It was that simple. It certainly wasn’t Chad Morris’ coaching acumen that made that offense go.

Yes but it took him until the 2015 recruiting class to hit the top 10 again.
I don't put any emphasis on internet recruiting rankings. That is just fun and games for the fans. I put my faith in Sam Pittman and his staff. If they say that a recruit is good enough to play in the SEC then that is all I need to know.

Year 1 wasn’t good in either case, but CBP proved he would readily go for the kill rather than go conservative late in games given the opportunity.
Recruit and sign enough difference-makers for a change and no one cares about CBP comparisons anymore.
We’ll just nitpick over how we’re winning.

Agreed, especially with all of the caveats of this season.
And, again... 3 more years we are at the 9/10 win mark. Sam knows what he is doing... WPS!
