If so, that pits two very good up and coming coaches against one another. AAC conference championship in Orlando I believe.
Frost won the matchup earlier in the season by a bunch, the only game Norvell lost.
Now, get this... If Memphis loses this game, there is a good chance Memphis would play a Big 12 team in a bowl game...
I know we will move on our coach prior to bowl season, but this was interesting to me for several reasons.

I wish we could just get this shite show on the road. If it's gonna be Norvell just go ahead and sign him.
We aren't getting Gus. It costs too much money and he isn't worth the head ache. Even if it was, we still may not get him because Auburn would be foolish not to throw even more money and job security at him.
So if what all the insider types around here are hinting at is true, I'd say the chances of it being Norvell is like 85% or higher.
Lol. We will have just canned an "established" coach from a winning power 5 program to go after an unestablished coach from a group of 5 program hoping his success better translates to the toughest conference in the country disregarding the fact that he doesn't appear to place too much emphasis on defense in a league that basically demands you play good defense.

Yeah the last time we hired an offensive guy it went awful. Thankfully we rectified that and hired a defensive guy because apparently this league demands it.

Yeah. Bret Bielema isn't good at building a team. That's been established.

You said this league demands you play good defense to be successful when our highest level of success came under an offensive guy who didn't give a shite about defense.

Such a simple concept but some people still have a hard time grasping it.

Oh, I can't wait to see how this all unfolds. Lol.
With a bit of luck it will be the final nail in the GOBN coffin.
ETA: Now we are putting Norvell in the same category as BMFP. Lol.

Haven't you been drumming on and on about hiring a DC with no HC experience because he's been the DC of very good offensive teams?

Patience man
Gus isn't out of the question, GOBN lives on until Norvell is announced

Yes. But now I'm the conductor of the Norvell train. Lol. Let's do this! Gonna be fantastic, you guys.

Lol. Even better.
Let's go out and spend about 30 million to get a coach that's gonna average 7 wins a year. And while we are at it lets sign him for 10 years and give him 6 million a year.
If we are gonna do the damn thing, let's do it right!

Why are you so damn whiney? How has the Arkansas HC search been a shite show? Because we haven't hired a coach yet? This is how a search is SUPPOSED to look. I guess you would rather go the Tennessee route. BTW, Norvell would be a fantastic hire. I don't know how you see otherwise.

Petrino knew he needed at least a top 30 defense to compete in this league. Wonder how many seasons it will take for Norvell to figure this out?

I agree that Norvell is a good coach. I don't know if he will be a good hire or not, but considering someone brought up frickin Tim Horton last night it could be a whole lot worse.
I wasn't intending to come across as whiney. Lol. I was being a smart arse. This is a very important hire and I see the Norvell hire as very risky given our situation at the moment.
But hey, like I said, if this hire blows up in the faces of the folks trying to play puppet master behind the scenes maybe this will stamp out the Tom foolery for good.
There is a silver lining to this cloud from where I sit.

Any hire we make would be risky. Even if Saban resigns from Bama and offers to coach here for free there is the risk that at his age that he just runs out of gas (see the less then stellar last year or so of Bear Bryant, Steve Spurrier, and others). Kiffin could demonstrate why he's been fired so many times. Norvell could be in over his head. Miles could insist we install the single wing offense and spend the off season lobbying to make the forward pass illegal.
Broyles had been a head coach for exactly one year when we poached him from Missouri and had posted an awe inspiring 5-4-1 record there. Lou Holtz was in the middle of a horrible season with the New York Jets. Ken Hatfield had a lowly 44% winning percentage at Air Force.
Yet all three of those coaches won more then 70% of their games here and had Arkansas consistently ranked in the top 25.
You roll the dice on every coaching hire.

This is true.
Hell, maybe Norvell wins 10 national titles here. I doubt he sniffs a single one, but hey, crazy shite happens all the time.

Petrino never had a top-30 defense, just a defense that improved every year.
