I'd assume not having to pay for a severance would be a good trade for them?

who was here melting the other day because it may he Briles

That'd be me. From an ethical standpoint I can't stand by the hire if it is true as I don't want anyone associated with that Baylor program in ours but from a football standpoint it's definitley a homerun hire and his track records speaks for hiself.

Those who say I had "facts" linking him to crimes are misrespecting what I said. It is a fact that that the Baylor scandal is not completely over. There are unnamed coaches who interfered or tampered with investigations, and pending lawsuits and criminal charges for the assaults/rapes

(this is where it becomes not a fact) I do find it hard to believe with him being OC and Art's son that he isn't one of them or wasn't involved in some capacity.

Back to facts: He has a seperate open title 9 about offering sex to recuits from a school wide group paid to have sex with potential recuits from all big sports.

Back to opinion
This is concerning as I would not want that at my program. What that shows to me is that he probably, in some form, took part in that culture at Baylor.

The most important aspect is whether he's one of those unnamed coaches or not, as that really determines what kind of person he is deep down and it was wrong of me to say he's a bad person without knowing for certain, and I wish that information could be out to the public so there's no baggage for someone who did not try to interfere with anything. With him being in a position a power during that scandal and the seperate investigarion there is real risk if we hire him that he could be named in something horrible. I would just rather not hire a candidate with that level of baggage.

All that being said, Briles is innocent until proven guilty, and I trust in the vetting of our administration to know better about that risk than I do. I support the Razorbacks and will be fine with Briles being our new OC. I have said my peace and I'll hold my tounge unless allegations start to actually have implications, and I'll very much enjoy seeing a great offense on the field again.

That means there is $1.4m to spend on 4 more coaches?

All openings are important, but particularly DL, Secondary and Strength, in my opinion.

So I guess we're not going to have a special Teams coach?

So for DL Coach, it appears Chris Wilson and Tray Scott are top two candidates, at least on the rumor mill.

For RB Coach, I've heard John Simon, the current Arizona State RB Coach, and the GA St RB Coach, Jimmy Smith, who only has 1 season of college coaching experience. I really don't see how Coach Pitt will go with the latter with that lack of experience. I'm sure there are other names no one has heard, especially if Briles has any preference to bring in a certain guy.

For the other defensive assistant, secondary or another LB Coach, I'm not sure who Coach Odom will bring on. He's already gone very cheap and new guyish with Rhoades and Carter. I hope we can bring on a guy who has a bit more experience and is an ace recruiter. We really need an ace recruiter on that side. We have no clue how Carter and Rhoades will do on the recruiting trail.

RB coach is a glorified on field recruiting position.

Use to be the TE coach, but with TE/Hback being an every increasing role in offenses the coaching in this position actually matters today lol.
