Heard on the radio today that Ashley had not had a single on-campus visit from a 4 or 5 star player his entire time here. Forget getting them to sign, couldn't even get a visit

More often than not, you get what you pay for

One of the reasons Odom failed at Mizzou

Arkansas: Deke Adams, who coached defensive line at FIU this past season, is expected to join Sam Pittman's staff in the same role sources share with FootballScoop. On3 sports has reported the same. Adams has previously coached at North Carolina, South Carolina, Ole Miss, Mississippi State and more.

This is probably the most questionable hire Sam has made to date. He does not have a good rep in the SEC.

Looks like he is going for the best recruiters if he actually hired this guy.

Well when you only have so much money to use you take risks like this.

It's obvious Sam is taking risks at the DL position and likely we will have more turnover at DL coach this time next year.

LeBlanc and Ashley didn't get one HS 4-star to visit while here last 2 recruiting classes, don't even think about getting a commit from one. A lot of meh so Sam keeps trying different people.

SC fans say Clowney didn’t perform as well in his final season when Adams was his coach.

Could be from other factors, but ole miss fans apparently aren’t too high on the guy either. They say Adams is a lazy recruiter, which could have an explanation as well. Surely that explanation was satisfactory for Pittman to want to hire him or I guess we’ll be looking for a new DL coach again sooner rather than later.

I hope this isn't the case especially with Sam asking for 7million.

We better start valuing DL quick fast and in a hurry. It's been consistently a weak point for us under Pittman and ice seen no noticeable development of the kids we have now either. Always seem to be hoping for transfers.

I would have rather seen him take a flyer on an up and comer we believed in than a retread like discussed earlier.

We were in dire need of a good dline hire and it came down to Jeremy Hawkins, an inexperienced coach, and Deke Adams, a guy whose been let go by half the SEC.

Pay somebody some frickin money Hunter.

In the SEC only South Carolina coach Shane Beamer is paid less than Sam, Pittman ranks 54th in the NCAA.

Arkansas needs to pay like a big boy program in the SEC if they want success.

Pittman needed to do what it takes to increase the assistant coach pool salaries even if that means Jimmy Sexton to wakeup the people in our administration.

The boon in assistant coach pay is at least partly a result of head coaches' leverage in contract negotiations. Billy Napier's new term sheet with Florida, for example, stipulates that he will have a salary pool of $7.5 million to pay 10 full-time assistants. Lane Kiffin's extension at Ole Miss specifies that his assistant coach salary pool "will remain at or above league average."

The Arkansas assistants were paid a total of $5.325 million last year.

$3.5 million of that $5.325 million went to our two coordinators.

Napier hired at Florida was given $7.5 million his first year.

Arkansas adminstration needs to wake up!!

This is what he's wanting? Wow.

Seems like for long term success, it'd be more prudent to take a smaller raise and negotiate for a much larger assistant pool.

This is Sam's most disappointing hire so far. Maybe it will work out but this is the first time he hired someone and my initial thought was "ew". He needs to bring in some stud DL after spring to change my mind on this one.
