Quite a bit more than who they replaced, right?

Speculation was that we couldn't land a big time DL coach because we didn't have any money to pay them a substantial salary.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't $400K (plus incentives) a quite competetive mark for an assistant, non-coordinator, coach?

I would think so...

I don't remember non coordinator positions getting much more than this. fwiw

Not really anymore. The guy LSU got to leave Riley and USC after working for him at OU is getting big money. Many of the DL coaches now are in the $600K-$800K range.

quote:

Cain gets a three-year, $2.6 million deal that will pay him $800,000 the first year, followed by $850,000 and $900,000 to be the defensive line coach and run game coordinator

Georgia DL coach Tray Scott just received a $150K raise to $750K.

Auburn DL coach Nick Eason left for Clemson. His deal with Auburn was $700K for 2 years. He's getting $750K at Clemson on a 3-year deal.

Clemson DL coach Todd Bates left for Oklahoma. $750K per year for 3-years.

Alabama DL coach who the hired from Ole Miss last year got $700K for the first year of a 3 year deal.

Rodney Garner got $550K last year and rises to $625K this year at Tennessee after making $650K at Auburn.

Jimmy Lindsey - $350K from South Carolina.

Anwar Stewart - $300K from Kentucky. Derrick LeBlanc was getting $325K when we hired him from Kentucky.

Cool, but how many 4 and 5 stars have those people landed? I don’t have any problem paying a dude money, but if they aren’t landing top talent, I don’t want to get swindled.

Also some of those programs like Florida fired a coach, who just 1 year prior would have been up for an extension.

No, it's the administration being cheap as always.

Everyone says this, but if we had a guy who landed 2 of the top 5 star defensive linemen each of the past few years, do you not think we’d find the money?

The problem is their "budget" won't allow Sam to bring in those guys. They don't want to make scraps when they can be earning double at other SEC schools

How do you know this? Do you know Sam contacted any of those guys?

Bumping this again since it has the assistant contract conversation.

quote:

Arkansas offensive line coach Cody Kennedy has received his second pay raise in 10 months.

Kennedy’s new agreement is worth $700,000 per year and through February 2024, according to terms that were released through a Freedom of Information Act request. The salary is a $300,000 increase over what Kennedy was due during the 2021 football season.

He was previously under contract through February 2023.

A source confirmed that Georgia approached Kennedy about its vacant offensive line coach position during the offseason. Former Georgia offensive line coach Matt Luke resigned after the Bulldogs won the national championship over Alabama.

Kennedy previously served as a graduate assistant at Georgia when Arkansas coach Sam Pittman coached the Bulldogs' offensive line.

Kennedy received a $100,000 pay raise to $400,000 last June after he was reassigned to offensive line coach. He was initially hired to coach tight ends.

The $700,000 annual salary is the largest for an Arkansas assistant coach who is not also a coordinator. Kennedy was one of 15 semifinalists for the Broyles Award last year as the nation’s best assistant coach.

With Kennedy’s raise, Arkansas’ 10 full-time assistant football coaches are scheduled to be paid $6.44 million this year, which is a 20.9% increase over last season’s staff pay.

Counting two new hires, all of the Razorbacks' full-time assistants have received new contracts or scheduled pay raises this year.
