Quality Thread #27
Some schools come up with an Alternate Method of Instruction (AMI) plan that can be used on days when superintendents close school due to exceptional or emergency circumstances. This allows some schools to not make up days. Do you prefer having the AMI days or make-up days?
Its 2018 and I love some of these comments.

My son's school started school 5 mins earlier this year. This is supposed to offset unexpected days off of school due to conditions.
Like I posted in the other thread, they have been cancelling school due to temperature. That is fine with the intentions focused on "walkers", but they've never done this before.
I think so far these decisions have came from the administration not wanting to go in and taking advantage of this time adjustment.
I know multiple agencies and chain have to have a reason, but why all of a sudden now? Yes, it is colder this year than normal, but like I said, previously it was never a reason to delay/cancel.

It's a soft generation.

It is.
I also live in a small town, where I know the administration and teachers.
Every day off so far, shouldn't have been and I told the wife that they would cancel.
Yesterday, one of the only schools in session for MLK day in the area.
Hmm, everyone else is off, lets call off for a few inches of snow, even though the roads are perfectly fine and everyone around here is used to driving in those conditions.

We got at best a dusting.

Yes; because our young student would otherwise be on Xbox so there’s nothing wrong with doing a little on line schooling and saving a school day.

Our school sent home a packet last week. It has math, science, social studies, reading, and their choice of electives. It's been about 4 hours of work each day so far. My son has still had time to play and enjoy free days.
Doesn't really bother me either as I'm lucky enough I can work from home when I need to.

I don't mind it.
Other parents make a big deal about it.

I figure it would piss me off if I were a kid. .
But it makes total sense.

Yeah, without a doubt. The parents are huge pussies. Probably liberals.

Yes. Tons of liberals abound in the Batesville School district.
Heaven forbid both parties have people who whine and complain

I am for sending work home, pushing our kids to the brink to learn, but use a myriad of educational methods.
We are lagging so far behind several other nations in technology, and science ability.
Interest them, learning can and should be enjoyable as well.
