that’s it! I liked him. Pittman was dumb for running him off.

That schedule may be a reason to keep Pitt one more year. A new coach is usually given a full year to get going, but staring at a real possibility of a season like 2–10 for your first season is something most coaches looking to make a move want to avoid. It’s hard to generate momentum to get over the hump when you start at 2-10.

Yes keep Pittman another year. Let him take the blame if he were to lose to Arkansas State and a potential worse season than before.

The good thing his buyout will be less expensive and we gave him plenty of time.

Yep, we’ve had more of this type of schedule than not it seems. What good coach would want to commit career suicide right off the bat. Let Sam and company deal with next year and go from there. Good point.

The schedule 2 years from now will be even more terrible when we add georgia, bama, Florida, Oklahoma back… maybe we should keep him for 3 years. We will never have a trash schedule like Indiana where we only play 1 tough school. We are in the SEC.

You all are acting like no balls AD/BOT. You aren’t demanding anything so we will never be anything. Rudderless ships go in circles.

Problem is there are potentially some big jobs coming open next year.

This is the year to make a change.

This is one of the easier SEC schedules that we had in years and we will end up finishing 5-7 to 7-5.

Doesn't really matter at this point if they keep Sam Pittman or not when Arkansas allowed to put themselves in a hole and they just kept digging for decades. Now the hole is deep enough that they can't climb out.

If 6-6 is the best we can hope for in any year going to a freezing cold bowl game then that really must suck.

It is no use in complaining about football because it just isn't going to change, they will just keep blaming the fans like they have been because they are cowardly and don't want change.

It would be so Arkansas to have a job opening right when everyone else has one.

We screw around in the coaching search and end up with another unqualified candidate.

If we're going to settle for 6-6, I would rather achieve that as a smart, tough, truly undertalented team. As opposed to a team that shows ability but makes too many mistakes to realize full potential.

We will court the best guy and then let him go to a team we play ever year because of a million dollars.

I'm no fan of where we're at but the reality is we are where we are. Arkansas is 167-184-8 in the sec. That's A LOT of history that comes out to that we are exactly what we are. Doesn't mean I love it but facts are facts. And I'll add this, since joining the SEC Arkansas has 16 bowl appearances in 32 years exactly 50% of the time. Arkansas has a .571 winning percentage ALL TIME. It's just who we are.

But we expect more, daggumit... I mean, look at all of the wailing and gnashing of teeth to expect us to hire a coach, and provide the $$$ that we never have in the SEC quite frankly....

Well, perhaps Petrino... but with his recruiting and coaching, it was gonna crash one way, or the other... It just happened the other way.

So, surely we can do, what we never have done, In History.... Right?

Before Frank Broyles came to Arkansas in 1958, Arkansas had more losing seasons than the rest of the SWC. Yes that is right, Arkansas was at the bottom of the SWC. It was what they were a terrible program just like they are right now.

But something changed and Arkansas became a power in the 60s despite being a very small state against other SWC members who had talent advantages. They didn't make excuses and didn't let the negativity get to them but used it as fuel for motivation. They found a way to navigate through the stormy waters.

That was the case until the early 90s. Arkansas refused to adapt to the change or delayed the process and was cheap. Instead of putting good minds to good use, they let things slip and always had an excuse. Excuses don't make you better but they can make you worse and that what has happened to Arkansas.

Something needs to change or Arkansas will continue to be a bottom feeder in the SEC.

We're not a 'terrible' program. Just not a 'great' program.

Well said. I feel the same way. It’s not so much the W/L record as it is how bad we look. The turnovers, penalties and overall lack of discipline is what frustrates me the most. Buying better players isn’t going to fix that.
