DVH's turnaround job since we got home from Hoover is one of the best coaching jobs of his career.

I am starting to wonder if DVH talking about people criticizing the team was him going for a "Its us against the world" type vibe.

Whatever he is doing, it is damn sure working.

On a side note (but somewhat Hog related), this is the third tournament in a row where the #1 overall seed hasn't made it out of the supers.

2019 - Michigan beat #1 UCLA
2021 - NC State beat #1 Arkansas
2022 - Notre Dame beat #1 Tennessee

The last #1 seed to make Omaha was Florida in 2018.

Agreed. It might have been what DVH needed (or even wanted) to get the team to come together. It definitely seems like it was better for this team to be on the road in the postseason than at home.

You can feed off the 10K+ fans in BWS, but sometimes it can also make you feel pressure and press a bit.

Just look at Ole Miss. In terms of slump months, their April was much worse than our May, and their fans wanted Bianco fired midseason. They turned it around in May, and now they're one of the hottest teams in baseball.

Never again do I want that crown on our head. The baseball gods just don't like it.

The #1 overall seed also somehow seems to always end up facing the hottest team in baseball in the supers.

Happened this year with Notre Dame, last year with NC State (who I’m still convinced might’ve won it all if not for Covid), and Michigan in 2019.

Maybe it’s how the regionals are paired, but the #1 overall regional winner always seems to get a bad pairing in the supers.

They wanted him fired mid-last week, and many still do

To be fair we've been blasting Thompson like crazy but if you go read OSU and especially the UNC board they praise the shite out of our hitting and specifically our approach over and over again.

For whatever reason we are seeing the ball much better now. For the most part we aren’t chasing stuff outside the zone. Moore and Gregory are the only holes in the lineup right now and they get on base at a decent clip.

Slavens, Webb and Stovall are on finally hitting on all cylinders.

Personally, whether the criticism (somewhat warranted) did it or it’s a moon phase…I don’t care. We are coming together in all aspects at the right time. Our pitching is solid, not outstanding…..but pretty deep. Hitting is solid, sometimes outstanding and pretty consistent. We’re a good almost great fielding team….

These are the type teams that slip in and win it all.

I fully believe we are as good as anyone still in this.

If we had the same plate approach all year as we've had in the postseason, no one would be bitching.

Yeah with Tenn out, I think it’s pretty much anybody’s ball game. UConn and Auburn could help us out today and knock out 2 more top 5 seeds.

Uconn 3 runs without an out to open the game. Stanford starter out in the first for second time.

How long is Gregory gonna be left in the lineup? What could we do to get a DH in for him? How would that affect our current lineup and position players and where they are playing in the field? He's an albatross at the plate.

I truly do not wish to see Stanford, and perhaps a few others.

I don't like how Ole Miss has come on strong, our TAMU had our number it seemed.

Again, we are a different team, but still

Really wish UConn would’ve tacked a few more on there. Stanford can mash.

I know that, but wouldn't it be better to have someone that could knock runs in? I'd like to see some stats that compare the importance of scoring of OBP vs. hitting for average and RBI production. My guess is DVH isn't going to rock the apple cart and what's been working. I wouldn't blame him.

It's Omaha, everyone is going to be really good or hot. I know we beat OM and Aubie but there really wasn't much separation. And A&M took the series with a 1 run extra inning win at home. I don't think we are really better or worse than anyone in the field.
