We definitely have the toughest schedule remaining. State has the easiest schedule. Sadly, we could win all three of our remaining series and not win the SEC title. Crazy.

Our toughness of schedule to date this year is like nothing I’ve ever seen before. Crazy to think we’ve still got a tough road to forge given SOS thus far.

Neutral series against 3 highly ranked B12 teams, road series against La Tech, MSU, Ole Miss, South Carolina and LSU. Crazy to think that after all that, we still have series against two more Top 10 teams, one of which is a road series.

Georgia is inconsistent, but have the talent to win a road series(see Vanderbilt series).

Tennessee is another top 5 road series coming up.

Florida looks like they're starting to play up to that early season billing.

We have 3 tough series left, but we've shown all season that we're a great team. Really enjoying this baseball season. Especially after an Elite 8 run by men's hoops.

Conference double headers have cost us at least 1-2 wins IMO

Sounds like Wiggins may get the start on Sunday per DVH.

Lockhart has been pretty meh all year so it's not surprising that Sunday is up for grabs. Odd that its Wiggins since I haven't seen much of him the last few weeks. I'm 100% in favor of this though. Best velo on the team.

Girls lose game 1 of DH to LSU. One win away from clinching at least a share of 1st ever SEC title.

Girls take game 2. Clinch a share of the SEC title. Gators will have to sweep Texas A&M this weekend to split otherwise the Razorbacks will be outright SEC champs.

Coach Deifel has done an amazing job and her recruiting classes the next year or two are the best in program history.

From worst in 2016 to first in 2021.

Outstanding.

Lockhart was our only consistent starter for the first half of the season... Started getting pulled early for some reason when his starts weren't bad and after that he's progressively gotten worse. Not sure if that has anything to do with getting pulled prematurely or if Van Horn just saw it coming.

For over half of the season, Lockhart gave us 4-5 innings of solid pitching. He has just lost a little juice lately and is on the struggle bus. Hopefully he can get it back.

DVH mentioned the plan this past weekend was for Bolden to start Game 3, but he did not want game 2 to turn into another Ole Miss so they brought him in there in that spot.

The lack of midweek games the last few weeks hasn’t helped. DVH mentioned theyve been trying to build up Wiggins stamina for longer outings. They’re also trying to get Zeb to be more of a contributor.

Hopefully we get it all worked out. Each big season we have, someone steps up at the end of the year and locks down that 3rd spot. Hopefully that trend continues.

Interesting take from D1
quote:

Q: How does this Arkansas team compare to the 2018 team that was 1 out away? That team struggled on the road in conference but somehow knew how to win big games until the end.

Aaron Fitt: That team also had Big-Game Blaine and Isaiah Campbell and Kacey Murphy, three workhorse starters they could lean upon, and probably more bullpen options they could trust, but they didn’t have Kevin Kopps, who is a weapon of mass destruction in human form. Both teams were elite offensively with serious firepower, but the 2021 team is much better defensively. And both clubs did seem to have that “find a way” gene that you can’t quantify. So take your pick on which you like better.

Q: if Arkansas makes it to Omaha would you consider them to be the heavy favorite to win it all or do you have someone in mind that will knock them off the throne????

Kendall Rogers: Julian — I’m not sure about heavy favorite, but Arkansas would definitely be my favorite. Arkansas’ issues seem to arise when they’re stretched way too thin from a bullpen standpoint. Well, what’s one thing that rarely happens in Omaha? Bullpens being stretched thin with the way the schedules are set up with an off day after each game. I feel like the Hogs setup very well for Omaha … but guess who else does? Vandy with Leiter/Rocker.

Disagree 100% here.

That squad was similar to this one at this time in the season. Campbell was very iffy for most of the season and really came into his own in Omaha.

Campbell only went 3 innings in the last game of that regular season against UGA in a loss and did not start. Prior to that he gave up 8H and 5 runs to LSU. The series before that he only lasted 1.1 inning against Bama.

Bottom line, Campbell did not get it really rocking until Omaha and then that led to him being the ace the following season.

Agreed on Campbell. I remember many even questioning if he should start in the CWS that year before he put on that performance versus Flordia. He clearly had the stuff but was very inconsistent and got in his own head.

I think they are right that our bullpen outside of Kopps is less nails than we would've expected. I blame a lot of that on the lack of mid week games.

Agreed.

I think that's hurting us more than we know, since it's always good to get relievers and younger arms some live innings in midweek games, so some of the cancelations have hurt.

I still wish DVH would have sold out any put him in before the foul ball. It was clear Cronin was fading after pitching the night before.

He's had chances to give some of the younger guys an inning here or there, but he still refuses to give any of them a chance. Instead, he brought in guys coming off injury when they were still sucking before injury.
