No. Our offense was only good against teams with bad defenses.

This is false. The example I provided in the OP of scoring 31 points against Alabama proves it. Our defensive coach built an acceptable offense here. We have to get better on defense.

We don't prefer Venables.

We could also get into the question of which philosophy will provide a more stable foundation for the long term health of the program. Which philosophy is a more consistent winner? It's defense.

All of the ones you listed in your earlier post

Here are the revenue figures I found:

Texas $182,104,126.00
Ohio St. $169,904,847.00
Auburn $140,070,592.00
Arkansas $127,316,374.00
Florida St. $123,344,314.00
Miami $85,615,972.00

Remember, all of these but one have won a national championship since 2000.

Resources isn't just money, the biggest issue we have to overcome is recruiting.

The logic in this thread seems sound. I can't think of any other reason that people wouldn't want a defensive first coach other than a combination of "it's different than the last guy" and "poor lil arkysaw". Oh, and people would rather watch exciting football than winning football.

All the more reason we should go after a guy who's strength is our weakness.

And you can make that argument, I believe it is a better one than the defense vs offense. I know both lead you to the same guy though.

They want to prove once and for all that Bear Bryant, every other good college football coach, and the very history of college football are wrong.

DEFENSE WINS CHAMPIONSHIPS!

No offense man but you seem to have a hard time with reading comprehension

I'm not proud, point out what I'm not comprehending. The facts are on my side. I really don't give a shite about comprehending feelings.

You're right, a good defense could probably guarantee 4th place in the division for years to come!

Steve Spurrier, Urban Meyer, Jim Tressel, Mack Brown and Bobby Bowden say hi.

Not high enough as I'd like. That's why I believe we need the best recruiter we can get our hands on.

You're on the wrong side of the facts. The other 12 years of championship coaches say hi right back.

Ah yes, I forgot that college football hasn't changed since the days of Bear Bryant.

3 of the last 17 national champions did not have top 10 defense, so yes, you must have forgotten.

That is irrelevant to the fact that if you don't have the best defense you can possibly put on the field, you aren't going to win as much as you possibly could. Facts.
