let me be pointedly clear... there is nothing about this thread that has a shred of quality, nor was there anything about the game that way.

WE SUCK! and this THREAD SUCKs... you are bad, you should FEEL BAD!

I expected to melt but after tonight we really are in a rut. Worst case is we fall apart and miss the dance and rid ourselves of MA. Best case is we get it together and go on a nice run. Likely case it's another average finish and 1st or 2nd round exit from the Tourney. I expect Mike to lose his job for that last one as well.

I'm curious how the new AD will handle the underachieving BB program we have. I seriously hope they turn up the heat on Mike. He deserves it for his lack of success. He has been given everything he needs to be successful except the players and that's his dang job to get them.

Body language was terrible from the get go.

They looked like they didn't want to be out there. Wonder what was up?

Every possession early was AWFUL. Maybe one pass dribble and FADER...

I love mike Anderson, have enjoyed being around him a few times. Class act, great guy, fun loving dude.

One problem, his team and coaching is sucking period. It is time for a change on way or the other.

He has had time, facilities, the ability to make changes to his staff and yet a young will wade coaches circles around him with lesser talent.

This should never happen after losing to Miss State and Auburn.

His style and system isn't working as it should by now. Period.

It's in their heads at this point. The team needs something good to happen to snap them out of this.

Need to beat the brakes off Missouri.

I agree. It's a shame that it's not translating in to wins for him.

Mike's had his shot. If he can't deliver this year I say be done with him. Arkansas basketball is not Arkansas football. We can go grab any coach with our facilities and recruiting.

Really wanted him to succeed but it’s not working at all.

This is unacceptable from Barford and Macon.

Gafford has made zero progress, and the role players aren’t even role players.

Unless something drastic happens, time to go get the best recruiting, truly defensive minded coach.

Hard to see this game as not ruining the season, even if it is early. Blown out in front of a sellout crowd? What. The. frick.

Our glory days are only a memory. We will never be what we were. When JFB hired Stan Heath (because he was black) instead of Bill Self (he wanted to come here badly), that started the downward spiral. A downward spiral we still have yet to recover from.

Boo Hoo.

We make the right hire and we're right back. It's still a destination job with our facilities and fanbase.

We sold out last night, on a weekday, after two losses in a row.

Bring in a hot young coach that can recruit and coaches fundemental defense and offense.

Losing Altman was a big deal, we would be in a completely different position.

Our slump as a team started when CJ hit a shooting slump. We have to get him going. Otherwise it's the Barford/Macon show with Beard getting jealous and throwing up random stupid shots just to get involved.

Couple of my own humble observations (Played D2 college ball, former high school basketball coach, and come from a coaching family) Doesn't mean I'm right, just a few things are standing out.

Our "motion offense" has become a "stand around and watch the guy with the ball dribble offense".

Drewbie said it last night in another post about assists per game falling way off. And when we do move, it's with not much purpose and screens are poor. When we are at our best, we are penetrating and pitching out for an open 3 or lob to Gafford if his man slides to help.

CJ Jones shooting slump is hurting us as well, but that is in part because he is an excellent spot up shooter. If the other guards don't drive and kick to him, he isn't getting clean open looks.

Feels like Gafford has stolen some thunder from the Senior heavy team. Could possibly be some jealousy. We have two seniors that flirted with the NBA last year, but now all the talk is about this freshman and his draft stock. Could lead to people thinking they need to do a little more to get some headlines again. Think this has also led to Thompson not doing much of anything lately either.

We don't have anyone willing to do the dirty work. Very few charges, diving on the floor for the 50/50 balls, and rebounds (that's a completely different subject and thread in it's own). We have a couple of guys who show flashes of it: Beard, Cook, Bailey, and Hall could all be those guys. It's a hard role to accept and usually goes unappreciated but is necessary. We need those Kikko's and Manny's just as much as our Portis' and Barford's.

Beard frustrates me beyond belief. He should be that lunch pail workman night in and night out. If you are a major D1 guard you have to be able to: 1- Penetrate and score or create shots for others, 2- Be an outside shooting threat, or 3- a lockdown defender of the opposing teams best guard. If you aren't bringing at LEAST one of those every night, why are you on the floor?

I will say that I have seen at least 2 set plays we are attempting to run in the half court offense since conference play. Both poorly executed, but that is progress. You have to get the guys who are supposed to be scoring a shot when it's crunch time. That was a big deal in that last 3 minutes of the North Carolina game last year.

It's not all lost... We have just regressed since earlier in the year and I feel some of what I've noticed is contributing to that. Need some guys to accept their roles and get back to playing unselfish team ball. And our defense isn't clicking. We have no help defense beyond the first help. The other's aren't rotating. That's the cause for all the open 3s and dunks and causing me to cuss at my TV.

I could go on and on, but I figured this wall of text is enough from a "new" guy here.

good assessment. The early second half charge on Barford was a classic example. He should have left it for Gafford and the dunk... instead he makes a selfish move and gets called for the charge.... was it?... maybe maybe not... but still, he had a better option and chose the selfish play.

Macon disappeared last night.... He can't be passive and us still have a chance to win. Has to be the floor general.

For now I will chalk it up to a bad night. If it continues then it gets into coaching and that is unacceptable at this point.
