The early second half charge on Barford was a classic example. He should have left it for Gafford and the dunk... instead he makes a selfish move and gets called for the charge.... was it?... maybe maybe not... but still, he had a better option and chose the selfish play.

We are too predictable and SEC coaching/scouting has gotten way better... Barford ALWAYS euro-steps when attacking a defender in the open court (think MS State drew a charge on him in same scenario last week). Thompson is ALWAYS going to try and throw a backdoor pass. We almost always switch every screen even big on little and rarely switch back once the ball has been passed. You have to break tendencies and that comes from self scouting/evaluating.

Slow day at work and last night's game sucks since I now live in Louisiana. But even though we stunk it up last night, we had a chance to get in under 10 right around the 10 minute mark. LSU did a great job of keeping composure and getting a bucket or two. Waters is a heck of a guard. Without him, we win by at least 10 and we aren't even having this conversation and being ok with an ugly win.

Great post. I feel like all those points are on the money.

To me it seems like all of Arkansas' problems right now come down to leadership issues. Jealousy could be the issue, or it could be something else, but Hogs MUST get better leadership from all three of their senior guards, especially Barford IMO, if they are gonna right the ship.

Everything that is going wrong right now is easily correctable. Stop standing around on offense, run the offense the way it is intended to be ran, and everything else will fall into place. In that game last night our guards were forcing the 3 ball early and often thinking those shots would start falling again because they were in Fayetteville. 18% from the field in the first half. That is terrible. They aren't letting the game come to them.

On defense they need a much better effort. We need some guards to step up and fill the Roger Crawford, Clint McDaniel role of being a defensive enforcer. We need people to pride themselves on being lock down defenders.

Take care of those two things and the difference in these games will be night and day.

I'm confident they'll get it straightened out soon

Most of our problems can be corrected by effort on both the offensive and defensive end.

More movement without the ball and at least look like we give a damn on D.

Got too many guys on offense thinking they're gonna be the star of the game.

Anderson's system only works so long as his players aren't selfish. Earlier this season when we were dishing 25+ assists per game it was beautiful basketball. Now we have a few players competing to see who can score the most points per game.

That's like the Achilles Heel for a Mike Anderson team.

If shots don't fall, players get lazy and dejected. It translates over to defense and we see the result last night. Blown out at home.

If I were Mike Anderson I would start my entire second string against Missouri until the starters knew I meant business about playing a full game.

Nolan used to do that shite a lot and it works.

I'll do it for half the pay so long as the university allows me to hire two good looking co-eds as my "personal assistants". Co-eds will be chosen based on 2 criteria.

1. Good looking.

2. Have questionable reputations.
