2025 vs ASU at War Memorial. That’s going to be awesome.

I think the state is ready to finally drop all games there. It looks awful on TV too. I will never understand.

2023 is what our OOC should look like annually. One decent game in September and a cupcake tune up in November. Copy that model year over year please.

This isn't new news.

Why bring up the GSD today?

I don't have an issue with playing an in-state opponent at War Memorial. Let's be honest, we wouldn't get more than 50K for a UAPB game in Fayetteville anyways.

Having a conference game in WM along with the A&M deal in Dallas was a bad deal and lead to a lack of good games in Fayetteville. I think this strikes a good balance.

Pulled up the article from Feb 3, 2021.

quote:

The University of Arkansas has signed an amendment to an existing agreement with the Arkansas Department of Parks, Heritage and Tourism to bring two additional Razorback football games to Central Arkansas in future seasons and extend the overall agreement through the 2025 season.

Future seasons will see War Memorial Stadium play home to in-state matchups with UAPB in 2021 (October 23, 2021) and 2024 (August 31, 2024) and Arkansas State in 2025 (September 6, 2025). Arkansas will also play Western Carolina (September 2, 2023) at War Memorial Stadium in the 2023 season. As part of the amendment, previously scheduled games against Missouri will be moved to Donald W. Reynolds Razorback Stadium on the University of Arkansas campus in Fayetteville.

“We are grateful to the Arkansas Department of Parks, Heritage and Tourism and War Memorial Stadium for working with us to be able to host some historic in-state matchups at War Memorial Stadium, while also allowing us to host Southeastern Conference games on our campus,” Arkansas Vice Chancellor and Director of Athletics Hunter Yurachek said. “The Razorback program belongs to our entire state and as we have shown in many of our sports, it is important that we continue to maintain a presence in Central Arkansas. It is also essential we provide our coaching staff the opportunity to showcase our campus during SEC games to potential student-athletes.”

“We value our partnership with the University of Arkansas and Razorback Football, and want to contribute to the overall success of the program,” Arkansas Department of Parks, Heritage and Tourism Secretary Stacy Hurst said. “Including U of A vs. UAPB and U of A vs. Arkansas State games beginning this year and through 2025 will present some exciting intrastate competition. We look forward to showcasing an improved venue and to welcoming people from across the state and beyond to historic War Memorial Stadium.”

In addition to the games set for War Memorial Stadium, Arkansas announced it has added a non-conference game with the University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB) in Fayetteville on September 14, 2024.

Because it's a bad look. The place is a dump. We can't host recruits there because it's an away game.

While I'm at it, the game in Jerrah world can go away as well.

I was confused what made you think of the topic today, it's not the offseason.

I'd rather keep the game in Dallas and do zero WMS games.

Its a crappy stadium but they are trying to keep Little Rock boosters invested and maybe reach the dying Eastern Arkansas fan base.

Which is dying, I grant you, because people can't wait to move out of this area.

Still... play ASU, UAPB, or UCA at Little Rock you will get a decent crowd (which you won't get in Fayetteville) and a game that at least has some heat to it. It would keep the Little Rock boosters happy. It will also keep the lawmakers happy because they can glad hand the constituents at the ball game and every politician loves to kiss the babies.

I think Eastern part is still invested. They will claim A State when doing well but over all, still Hog fans.

You get the same or better than decent crowd if they were in Fayetteville. But only you get better than decent amenities and you don't run out of paper towels and soap.

Take them both out. Arkansas loses a home game. It was a good idea when A&M was in the Big 12 but not anymore.

WMS may be a POS, but the tailgating there is way better than NWA

Didn't they shut down tailgating on the golf course a few years ago?

I have no problem playing in-state schools there. No one else though, and certainly not conference games.
