A&M is talking about hiring Elko and Traylor. We're talking about Gus Malzahn.

Well both Elko and Traylor would be downgrade hires on paper from Jimbo so I’m not sure where that will get them honestly lol

Arkansas could have had Norvell or Kiffin.

But they were not cheap enough.

Arkansas could have had drink, but the fear was people wouldn't donate enough.

The tempered expectations are to go cheap, then ask for help with the jyout for going cheap the past two hires.

I made a pretty big post with what I feel are decent points, and you singled out the one off-hand remark I made about TAMU. We seem to diverge on our perspective of them, but that's fine. The bottom line is I absolutely do not want someone because we think they're going to get us more or less the same results as Nutt, Bert, and Pitt.

Their sin with Jimbo was putting his pussy on a pedestal, not with the hire itself. They made it known that he had until infinity to win them an NC, so he acted accordingly. Pigs get fat and hogs get slaughtered.

I'm not sure where it'll get them, either. But that's at least not treating their football program like the game where you stab a knife in between your laid out fingers.

The Drink hire was pretty risky. He had one successful year of HC experience at a job where the previous coach left for a better job and had it all set up for him. Kiffin and Norvell, though? Abso-fricking-lutely. Kiffin was an all but done deal, but we did the Arkansas thing and sat on a Mississippi-shaped dildo.

Sure, but take all of Aggy money, all of Aggy resources, and look at how many games the last ten years they won because of the coaching at Arkansas fricked it up and gave the game to them.

Don't worry about Aggy, they will do their best to "win" the hire by causing some sort of envy or jealousy from big bro LSU and Texas, they will pay big NLI money to win NSD, and they will then continue to be Aggy.

Arkansas isn't in competition when it comes to coaching searches with Aggy because Arkansas is looking for the best bang for the buck while Aggy is looking for the biggest headlines for the dollar.

Norvell may or may not have slayed too much pussy in his life for the job as well.

No one would have been excited about Drink, donations would have suffered of course he lands on the schedule so Arkansas has a coach with an axe to grind, couldn't go without that after Gus was relegated to Orlando.

Could have fooled me. Last I checked, Pitt was making six million a year, plus three times that much just for the act of getting fired. I don't know where this act of paying a shitty coach alimony came from or how we let it catch on to the point of ubiquity, but it's almost enough to turn me into a fricking socialist.

Almost.

Just like with Gus, Kiffin used us for leverage in getting a bigger deal. We legit missed on Norvell. Remember the "he's got skeletons in his closet" bullshite that was floated

You won't get any argument from me about us being cheap. We are and it hurts us and will do so expedientailly with the direction CFB is headed.

You are talking second contract numbers which are still mid-bottom of the conference.

Kiffin was going to the highest bidder, OM expectations are no higher than what Arkansas should be.

He isn't looking for his last job, he was looking for the job to get him to his next job.

That's a fair point. It doesn't change the fact that he somehow got guaranteed more money for the Florida win, and that we're currently at the bottom-bottom in results. We've been short-sighted every step of the way, which has led to a lot of bucks and not a lot of bangs.

Campbell
Cignetti
Chadwell

Make one of the 3 Cs happen! You can't tell me between the 3, there isn't one viable option that would come here

The issue at Arkansas isn’t what we’ll pay the head coach but rather what we pay the rest of the coaching staff. We really suck there in regards to our SEC competition.

That's what made him my #3 choice instead of my #1, but who knows. He's getting old, maybe he's tired of living in a U-Haul. Bill Clark was actually my #1 choice, but that went in an entirely unexpected way altogether. I was scared if we didn't hire him, Auburn would and win another NC.

So, where is everyone's money going?

HY would be be to answer why this isn't possible.

If it's so 33 championships can be won in other sports, we all know what the response would be...

The difference with Gundy is that his teams don't have the spectacular collapses throughout the years following a terrible loss to a South Alabama like Arkansas.

Gundy would recruit better at Arkansas than at Oklahoma State.

The problem is Arkansas might get a Gundy past his prime.
