I really can’t blame a coach, seeing all these crazy numbers being given to coaches. Kiffin getting over $7mil? Yea…Pittman probably needs a couple more million a season. Market is crazy stupid…

Pittman obviously wants to be paid because of the current market.

What’s the difference in dropping the person responsible for him getting the Arkansas job and doing what Mike Woods, Malik Monk, Archie Foodwin, KJ Hill etc. did?
He’s free to do what he wants, but it’s pretty shady if there isn’t an underlying story there

His agent was Mark Henry’s wife I believe.
Lots of folks saying Oklahoma is interested in him.
He’s fixing to get Paid!
One could also surmise that he is listening to OU and had a falling out with the Henry’s because of it.

OU isn’t and hasn’t shown interest. OU is after one man and one man only out in Clemson SC. Likely done today.
OU is also about to go after Lincoln Riley for ethics breach of contract for sleeping with and having an affair with football staffer Annie Hanson. Riley’s wife was behind the move to LA and OU wants some money out of SC for this mess.

The market is indeed wild. We have to pay what market says we should pay. I expect same to get a bump to 5 or so.

Doesn't matter if OU comes after Pittman or not, he just saw the Kiffin deal and Arkansas is sitting there trying to pinch pennies. Hell, nobody even wanted Kiffin and he still got a giant raise.
If nothing else, Pittman probably just wants the new market value, which, for a guy like him, is $5-7 million, and he wants his assistant pool increased so he doesnt have his staff poached. He obviously felt he needed to get himself some leverage and Sexton is the way to do it.
All I know is, get ready for Pittman's name to be rumored for coaching searches every other year now, because that's the Golden Rule in the Sexton playbook.

anybody ever consider that sexton has such a strangle hold on top coaches that CSP is better suited from a connection standpoint to go hire new coaches through sexton?

Pittman never struck me as the type that really cared about money all that much, but he is making less money than offers that some G5 schools were putting out there to keep their coaches from getting poached.
I loathe Sexton but he's going to make sure his guy gets paid.
I don't Pittman going anywhere unless Yurachek absolutely mucks up the negotiations for a new contract. HY has done a pretty good job of not screwing up things like that so I expect this will get handled fairly quickly.

Got to pay to play in the football world. Pittman has sure as hell earned it. The attendance alone, should more than cover it over Chaggie's BS. With what he has done in two years and the current market, I would think at least double his current is needed, along with significant increases for assistants, so that he can have the assistants he wants. That is one thing that is a potential problem at OM, is Lane getting all the money and little left for the assistants?

Not sure I feel about this. Does Pitt deserve some type of raise. Probably. Should he be getting 6-7 mill? I don’t know about that. We took a huge risk hiring him (I know no one wanted the job too) no other school ever would have looked at him for a head coaching job period. Feels weird but college football usually is weird and dirty as frick.

And you would be one of the dumbass bosses who would run off your best most capable people because you tell yourself that YOUR the only one that make s it work, that it's all about you Jeff Long.
Like it or not, $6 millon/year IS NOT crazy money in today's collage football world. Plenty of schools pay more than that for shitty coaches in weak conferences.
