re: Arkansas about to make a big hire?

Posted by spehog on 11/12/25 at 12:02 pm to
The rumor was Walton’s got pissed their choice for chancellor was ignored. Also rumor is they’ve seen the love Tyson got for the Cal hire. Walton’s worried that if a super league is formed they don’t want to get left out cus that could potentially hurt their business college enrollment (we all know successful football helps boost enrollment). It might not be the kids but other Walmart higher ups that are helping. If they pony up idgaf put a Walmart logo in the middle of the field my two cents.

So the super league is why there are rumors the boosters are finally ready to pony up. Arkansas cannot get left out if/when that happens. We’ve seen what winning football does to enrollment, getting left out of something would be catastrophic.

Hell yea to the first 2. Kill me on the last one. Dabo, fleck, and kliff are other names that have been floated. We apparently interviewed Will Stein at Oregon but that was probably a down the road keep ties with type of interview.

If we’re hiring someone now it’s gotta be an unemployed coach aka Franklin, Gruden. Otherwise someone spilled the beans bad.

Curry hicks tweeted he might know who it is too. Called it a 4/10 on the splash factor…
Read all 7 books in like 2 months. Was the most into a series I’d been in a while since like first stormlight read maybe. Great stuff and the 2nd was probably least favorite, it’s still great.

Again this is rumors and piecing together hearsay on here and other boards but it seems Tyson has got other big donors to put together an impressive salary pool and nil package specific for James Franklin. Money would still be there for other names like Golesh, Pj fleck, summeral, others who change by the day. Said even before yesterday game Golesh would be my 2 behind Franklin. His name picked up steam in Auburn board today and thought I saw Penn st was interested in him too but they seemed firmly solid on Hartline. Even Va Tech posters are now saying they’re getting sexton’d by JF lol.

From whatever has been said here and other places it sounds like Hunter has very little say in this hire. Sounds like his days are numbered and Kevin Scanlon is going to be taking that spot.

There’s probably still a wild card out there but James Franklin as a 1 and Golesh as a fall back sounds great. I’ve personally bitched a lot about not firing Pittman last year but if this loss of a season led to waking up the Walton’s/other donors than it is worth it in the long haul. With the numbers being tossed around he’ll next year should be a 7 win season at least.

All those other teams playing 50 mil for their coach to leave. We’re paying 10 mil for their coach. Chess not checkers boys :pimp:. That said yea no way Riley comes here right? Sounds like our donors getting serious has turned some heads ala Texas Tech.

Literally the only good thing about hiring Gruden would be “winning the press conference.” Unless he did some major research and went into an interview like Muss did where he had a game plan for the entire roster then hell to the no. If we whiff on JF there are plenty of good options in play instead of a dude with 2 winning records in 20 years.

Norvell prob wants a parachute? Dillingham has been thrown out but that surely is a play for more money he’s from there.

If Franklin is a no I’d be down with Alex Golesh too. Offensive guy only getting paid 2.5 mill etc. Don’t slide back and get a gundy or jimbo or gus. I’ve been watched less Arkansas football this year than ever and turned down tickets. If any of those three are hired I might be out for good. Lots of good options out there even with all the openings. Hoping the donors are actually ready to play ball.
Loved it, finally got the wife to read it. Let us know your thoughts. Seems ether people love its over the top ness or its too much.

Only negatives were the first what 10 minutes, free throw shooting, the refs calling everything in a charity preseason game, and that color commentator. Meleek Thomas and Billy Richmond coming on as 6th men is not fair.
He’s not dead his alters will live on forever.
This. We love Sando cus he actually pumps out content but if he needs a break just tell us. His secret project program was awesome but I think that put MORE pressure on himself to get stuff out. Take your time on Mistborn and just give us a honest timeline, no one will bitch.
Reading that for the first time when Covid was ramping up wasn’t the best decision for me lol.
Hopefully only Florida is open. Auburn might win enough to keep Freeze. UK can’t afford to fire stoops right?
