Arguing about it doesn’t matter so this thread is pointless. He’s hear now and he’s not with us as much as I beat the drum to get leach that ship has officially completely sailed. Let’s whip his pass happy arse now next year and give the pittboss all of our support wps!!

We didn’t make the flashiest hire of the 3 but could end up being the most pragmatic. Just bookmark shite for now.

Agree. Pittman delivered the staff and it seems like the recruits are following. I'm going on record that I think we will be the best off in 3-4 years, and maybe sooner. Chaggie dug a deep arse hole.

Look at his record as wazzu now compare to Ms states historical mean.

Leach did ok at Washington State but he has some Bert type tendencies. I mean for crying out loud he blew a 32 point lead to UCLA. They had a 32 point lead with a little over 6 minutes to go in the 3rd quarter ---- that's around 21 minutes. All you have to do is run the ball, milk the clock, and have some semblence of a defense and you win that game.

He also has a little bit of Morris in the fact that he gets beat by teams he should have blown out. Leach lost to Portland State and Eastern Washington. I know he took over a bad job so losing to a couple FCS shouldn't be held against him............but it was in years 4 and 5 of his tenure.

With all that said I can't deny that he has done some great things at the two programs he coached. He's really good on the offensive side of the ball. But I just don't think all of his weird quirks - fat little girlfriend tirades - Bert-like twitter nonsense is worth the risk.

Disagree.... I wanted discussion by folks to see how they believe we will rate, compete against those two specifically... and others.

I find it a great topic to discuss in the offseason for our board.. What else we going to discuss, uniforms again...

Good Lord! I don't give a frick if they wear pink belle bottoms as long as we win!

Leach will have more talent at MSU than he has had before. They will be a formidable foe. His record may suffer from being in the SEC West, but he will be solid.

Kiffin will have a half way decent team. His name and recruiting will pay off.

They both should improve.

Pittman has brought in a good staff. He has the experience to run a program. We should return to a decent team. We have murderers row though now.

We could have had Kiffin or Leach. With the mess we have with Bert and Chaggie's buyouts... Our Buyout offer cost us.

Well, I'm not sure that Leach or Kiffin will even be in the SEC in 4-5 years. I'm skeptical that either of them will work out, but if they do, then better jobs will come calling. They may come for Pittman, too, but I don't see him leaving.

Kiffin and Leach are analogous to sports cars purchased for the color.

Buyouts are dumb. Anyone who requires a massive one to coach here probably doesn't deserve one. When is the last time you heard about a buyout saving a school from losing a good coach?

Pretty much this... I think we will all improve quite a lot, but I’m thinking we will get the continuity that they won’t. I think Kiffin will do fairly well and bolt for a bigger gig in 2-3 years. Leach will probably be ok but after losing to Kiffin every year they’ll fire him.

I would agree here. Leach will probably end up beating Bama in his first 2-3 years but averaging 6-7 wins and dropping at least 1 head scratcher non conference game.

Kiffin will end up back in the NFL

Great hire for them. Like others have said if sam Pittman hadn't made the assistant hires he did I would be mad and upset.

Wrong, wrong wrong. You do realize you must play defense to beat Bama. The Pirate hasn't ever had a defense, ever.

And Good Luck State

Bama scored over 40 points in both their losses this year.

Yeah I wasn’t sold on Pittman at first but damn the dude has made good hire after good hire and you know his recruiting is gonna be pretty damn good. I’m not upset with Pittman anymore but it just sucks that both Mississippi schools made competent hires, at least on the surface. I was really hoping we could have 1 Easy win in the division which now we won’t get. I’m not so much upset with who we got as I am disheartened that everyone else seemed to make good hires as well.

And Leach lost to Bama in '06 and Ole Piss in '09 while at Texas Tech. I just don't think he'll take the SEC by storm at Moo St. and beat Bama in his first 2-3 years.

Is Moo St. a better football program than Arkansas, absolutely. Will it still be in 3 years, that remains to be seen.

We'll just agree to disagree.

I don't disagree with you on Leach, I'm just pointing out that saying you have to play defense to beat Bama is not exactly accurate.

Over the last several years, Ole Miss did it with offense. Clemson did it with offense. Texas A&M did it with offense. LSU did it with offense. Etc. If fact, without looking, I'd imagine Bama scored 30+ points in more of their losses over the last 5 or 6 years than they were held under 30 points in them.

That being said, I'm very interested to see the contract. Hard to think they didn't overpay for him. Leach at alot of leverage in the negotiations unless he was truly trying to find anyway to leave and this was his last chance.

Still want to see the buyout but 5M/year is not as high as we heard but still high. I'm guessing he wanted out of Washington St and this was his last decent chance.
