I was watching the SEC network and they said that was the most points coming off the bench for an Arkansas player in a quarter of a century. 27 points and a transfer from Jacksonville State.
We need to give Muss a round of applause for finding a diamond in the rough.

This is why I think Calipari's glory days in the SEC are now solidly behind him.
A guy like Muss, who has basically mastered the transfer market, can plug and play 20+ yr old guys and mix them with highly touted freshman and stir it into a top 10 type team.
Cal is still just trying to pile up 5 star freshman every year and hope it works.
I don't care if Muss wants to talk it about or not, Hunter better lock his arse the fuk up in the days after the SEC tourney.

ESPN had Notae 29th among eligible sit out transfers for this year. Which is pretty good really, Appleby for UF was 26th for example.

I'd be interested to see Justin Smith's rating. Indiana fans have to be ready to hang themselves watching him this year.
He's going to start landing even bigger Transfers, too.
There's also not a team in CBB that runs a more "NBA style" system/program. The lure is pretty huge.

23. Tate
27. Smith
47. Jackson
Jalen Harris was 56, didn't do much at Georgetown it would appear. Apparently took a leave of absence back in December and never returned.

Is there a story on this? Does Muss not want to talk about it or something...

The IU fans I’ve seen want to downplay Smith’s success by saying it’s because the SEC isn’t as good as the Big 10
Notae was his conference’s freshman of the year so I had some expectations for him but for an undersized mid major guard to win SEC 6th man of the year? Not sure many Hog fans thought he would be this good.

Thats the only logical reason I can think of as to why there hasnt been an extension deal already signed.
I could see Muss saying he's too busy with game prep to be distracted by contract talks. The Nate Oats deal, though, should have been just been copy and pasted and taken to Muss's agent.
Alabama knew someone would probably come knocking on the door as soon as the season ended, but Alabama made it so that doenst even take place now.
What's infuriating is hearing that moron Mike Irwin say just this week that paying Muss the same as Nate Oats ($3.5M/yr) would not be a good thing because he would make more than the football coach.
I literally could only laugh at the Frank Broyles mentality of that statement. If you won't pony up for what is obviously one of the top CBB coaches in the country after the 20-year program shite hole you just came out of...then I'm simply out of words.

Our sports media is ridiculously horrible on so many absurd levels. The only hope is to fire them all, but they would turn around and hire the same type of idiots.

It's not like it's uncommon for coaches or players to table contract talks until after the season.
SEC Coach Pay Rankings by actual school pay
1. Calipari - 8M
2. Barnes - 4.7M
3. Pearl - 3.93M
4. Williams - 3.90M
5. Oats - 3.225M
6. Crean - 3.20M
7. C Martin - 2.92M
12. Wade 2.43M
13. Muss - 2.33M
So yeah, I'd say toss him 3.4-3.6 and call it day but hell if Buzz can get 3.9 who knows.

Muss will fill Bud Walton again.
Pay him 4.8 and be done with it for awhile.
We also have this to think about:
2019-20 Season NBA Head Coach Salaries
Gregg Popovich (SAS) – $11 Million [Current Contract: 3y/33m]
Doc Rivers (LAC) – $10 Million
Steve Kerr (GSW) – $9.5 Million
Eric Spoelstra (MIA) – $8.5 Million
Rick Carlisle (DAL) – $7 Million [Current Contract: 5y/35m ]
Scott Brooks (WAS) – $7 Million
Dwane Casey (DET) – $7 Million
Billy Donovan (OKC) – $6 Million [Current Contract: 5y/30m]
Frank Vogel (LAL) - ~$5.5 Million [Current Contract: 3y/~16.5m]
Brett Brown (PHI) – $5 Million
Luke Walton (SAC) – ~$5 Million [Current Contract: 4y/~20m]
Terry Stotts (POR) – $5 Million
JB Bickerstaff (CLE) – $4 Million [Current Contract: 4y/16m]
Mike D’Antoni (HOU) – $4 Million [Extension offer (rejected) – 1 year, $5 Million]
Steve Clifford (ORL) – ~$3.75 Million [Current Contract: 4y/15m]
Brad Stevens (BOS) – $3.67 Million [Current Contract: 6y/22m, Extension details unknown]
Alvin Gentry (NOP) - ~$3.4 Million [Current Contract: 4y/13.7m]
Nick Nurse (TOR) – ~$3.3 Million [Extension offer (accepted) – Multi-year, details unknown ]
Monty Williams (PHO) – $2.7 Million [Current Contract: 5y/ 13.5m]

How does Brad Stevens make $3.6M while Scott Brooks makes $7 million!?! That insane.
I figure Muss could get around $5 million/yr if he gets Arkansas rolling for a few years and goes back to the NBA.
Arkansas was paying Mike Anderson $3.3M/yr. If the school deemed him as worth that, Muss should realistically get $4.5+ mil/yr.
As stated above, the contract will pay for itself when Bud Walton is on fire every home game and bball merch and donations are through the roof.
I also don't see how kids and transfers won't be knocking down the door to play for him, so it's not like the talent level is going to fall off dramatically. He can reload and reload and reload.

He is going to get a raise but if he can get to a elite eight then he should make more than Sam.

If he get to the elite 8 he deserves to make more than Sam. Hell he already has a top 10 season pretty much in the books. We would pay Pittman 5 mil a year easy if he did that.

Muss is only making 2.33 million a year. He should have been paid more than that just based on his experience.

If we don’t pay this guy his market value then the lack of commitment to compete will be on full display.
I can’t imagine a reason we wouldn't, but history has shown we don’t need good reasons to make bad decisions sometimes.

I think Hunter will pay coaches what they are worth once they prove it here. I like that he is cheap with them out of the gate. Instead of being locked into a giant contract with a fat retard we get guys who actually want to be here, even if they aren't a "splash hire" like with Pittman.
Posted on 3/13/21 at 9:11 am to Beached Tusky
I don't give a damn if Muss makes more than Pittman. Nolan certainly made more than Mutt and was one of the highest paid college coach's at the time of the championship. That needs to happen again. Pittman's salary can rise with success, Muss is having considerable success early with mostly players he's picked up, and so needs to be shown a considerable reward. As all of you have said, a full Walton will pay for it and much more. Anybody (super sensitive ego Irwin) that disagrees can suck a $&$+&, not that there's anything wrong with that if that is your thing.

Muss definitely understands recruiting is not the end-all be all that in basketball that it is in football. J.D, Justin Smith, and Jalen Tate were HUGE transfer wins for us. We should throw the bank at him as he's a top 10 CBB coach without a doubt.
