He needs to make it to the second weekend of the tournament to see close to a double in pay.

Oats won a conference championship already, Muss could win Arkansas' second SECt title this weekend which would deserving of the bonus pay in his contract.

Some need to calm down with the knee jerk reaction to overpay just because a coach "shows" something, reminds me of the fear of Kentucky coming after Pel after is first season and a half. So far Muss has shown he can put together a solid team, he hasn't had the opportunity to show he can win when it matters in March here.

He deserves a raise, but pump the brakes on a contract that would elevate his pay to one of the highest in the SEC. It wasn't that long ago Martin took USCe to their first final four, now some are vocal of wanting to replace him...

He needs to make the second weekend to be deserving of a big pay bump. If he brings us another F4 then I don't see the problem in making him one of the highest paid in the league.

There are some big differences between him and Martin. That SCar team was Thornwell and a bunch of role players. If we make it, it's gonna be a team effort. A team it took Muss only one year to put together. Most of them will be back next year too. He is light years better at recruiting than Frank.

If we lose today and fall flat in the tourney I won't really care if he is even back next year let alone given a raise.

Yeah, people bitch bout the bad contracts Arkansas finds themselves in, but fail to see what leads to them.

Nutt/Bert for beating Texas, Petrino for poll finish rankings, chaggy for promising Texas.

It simple supply demand, what job better than Arkansas is opening up this year? What job better opening also has Muss as a top candidate?

It's easy to compete with yourself, and coaches have taken advantage of Arkansas' willingness to compete with themself.

If the team falls in the first two rounds then I won't be totally disappointed because I never expected them to make a deep run before the season began. Just make the tournament.

But we need a sweet sixteen or better in such a bad way. That would put a lot of doubts away that we aren't just pretenders from the SEC.

Bert is the only one of those three that had a really bad contract. Nutt and Petrino both had success here. I'm not advocating for Muss to be given 5 mil for going .500 and beating a shitty Texas team. We are talking about getting a Final Four here.

Jeff Long is gone. If Hunter pays Muss 4mil for a round of 32 or less I will start to worry. Or not. Little to none of it will be my money. I think it's silly that anyone who donates less than 5 figures a year really worries about this.

What made that contract worse was that Bert underachieved with that team and the same could be said for his first year.

Bert's extension would be equivalent to Muss going 13-12 then beating someone like LSU in the 1st round of the SEC tourney and then getting top 10 type coaching money.

I could see Muss saying he's too busy with game prep to be distracted by contract talks. The Nate Oats deal, though, should have been just been copy and pasted and taken to Muss's agent.

Didnt think coaches negotiated those buy themselves anymore.

Mus doesn't have the time to make the most twitter interactions by a d1 coach and do the scouting reports, some poor grad assistant and admin staff members are going in 4 hours of sleep along with their 18 hour work day each day for $15/hr.

Yes that would happen with Long then we proceed to lose in the first round game of the NCAA tournament.
