Thanked the Veterans in our great State...

Spoke about how it has been a hard few weeks and our Football program wasn't showing progress.

It is a tough decision, but the best business decision concerning our program.

He is speaking of Lunney's character and his love for all things Razorback.

He stepped up.

As I begin this search we will have, no doubt, a great pool of candidates for this position.

We will be competitive, we have a passionate fanbase that so desparately wants this program to be successful...

Our football program can be one of these programs!

Lunney speaking

Thanks Hunter to allow him to fill in the position, thankful to Morris for keeping him on the staff.

He thinks back to the time he was a football player and thrust into the same type of situation. Joe Kines was Interim and when Kines was asked as being the Interim, he said, "We are all Interim"

All of the ranges of emotions, confusion, disappointment, happy, sad, hurt... He knows firsthand what this is like and remembers back. After losing to the Citadel in a program defining loss, things had to change.

Lets give them the best opportunity to succeed in the next few weeks. There were some great things that came out of the next few weeks following that loss...

The same team that lost their coach, stuck together and won well the next couple of years.

This is all about our players.

Questions...

When did you make the decision on Chad, and what can you tell us about the pool of candidates.

Ans... Sat. night as I visited with chancellor.

I will not comment on the candidate pool at this time

2. Buyout??? Details
ans... We will follow Coach Morris employment agreement, 70% over the next four years. Our CFO said we have the funds to handle that

3. What kind of pool are we looking at, Current, sitting, former head, Coords?
Ans.. All of the above

4. Just after two coaches and two huge buyouts does this change what can be handled.
Ans.. Well, these buyouts in all of the coaches is not great, and I said in the opening press when hired that losing games should be a firing for reason, however we cant pioneer that here and be competitive.

5. You said you saw changes the past couple of weeks, did coach Morris lose his locker room?
Ans.. I don't know if he lost the locker room, I just didn't see the effort of play I saw earlier in the season. We didn't have a competive nature in our program

6. Are donors and boosters fully committed to getting the best guy in here
Ans.. Yes, I would say that we are fully committed

7. Thoughts about the fans and thoughts about the program.
Ans. I didn't reach out to our fans, they had already made known their thoughts through social media and attendance.

8. As an ex athlete, what had you evaluated with the talent and roster on the team. Is a radical style needed with the level we have.
Ans. We have plenty of talent in our locker room, it may not be Alabama talent, but we need to hire the best fB Coach and allow him to put in the plan to be successful.

9. What happened to halt the progress that was being made
Ans... I look back at the second half of the KY game when we couldn't get that win against KY, at that time our student athletes lost hope in the program

10. How important is it to know that you had already gone out and searched with the BB program
Ans... That search was a great learning experience for me to see what others nationally thought about us and our program, we will do well

11. How sure are you going to get a coach to buy in and understand they have time and support.
Ans. I can not afford to get this wrong with our program, we must get the right person and have a competitive product on the field.

12. How did Barry handle the meeting last night.
Ans. Barry did great, I had a few comments and apologized to them how they found out about the firing and spoke about the decision to appoint Coach Lunney. They had his support.

13. Are you aware of what happened with Barry, etc..
Ans. Kevin Trainor fills me in on History

14. What about Barry, does he have a chance if he somehow beat LSU or something AWWW BOB!!!!!
Ans. I am excited with Barry, and he has an opportunity the next few weeks.

15. Search Firms?
Ans. I believe it is my job to identify the candidates and maybe use a search firm for background, etc

16. Schemes???
Ans.. again it goes back to whomever we select, he needs to make sure to come in and use the athletes we have and develop a plan to be successful and then recruit to his scheme.

17. Timeline"
ANs. Chad and I met every SUnday, I don't think the decision caught Chad by surprise, but it was a tough meeting, and he is and will always be a great friend as we hugged following

18. Recruiting?
Ans, We are not going to be in a rush, we are going to do this in the right way and get them in here to have time to recruit.

19. List of targets?
Ans. Yes, I have targets but I haven't gone behind his back to see prior to making this decision, I will be looking and contacting folks today

Interesting in that he basically delivered an ultimatum after the Miss St. debacle.

Great to hear, some on here thought Hunter was ok with what was going on but he never was after the Kentucky game.

Lunney Now

1. Who have you reached out to as a mentor..
Ans... My dad, he is a great mentor and from a parent to a coach, we went to eat lunch yesterday as a family and I done remember what I ate, where we ate, I had so many phone calls.

Also Bobby Allen who has seen the good, bad, ,and ugly, Turner Gill also is a great mentor.. Ron Cooper has been great to learn from

2. Barry how do you motivate a lame duck staff?
Ans. Good question, Hunter met with these guys this morning, and we have been in this position in the past. We cant lose sight of that we owe nothing but to ourselves and our players to do the best the next few years.. Aww, I see coach Neighbors here who was my best youth coach growing up. You get 12 chances, when you done make it the best possible it is tiring to put in the effort and now achieve. We owe it to these kids and our selves.

3. With the Bye week do you have time to taylor the game towards your personnel?
Ans. Yes, we have a few extra days of prep to do a gameplan. Would you want to install drastic changes? No, but we do need to do the best to play with more heart. It doesn't matter what system we install if we don't have the toughness, grit, and heart to do it. Just like in the KY game, we haven't recovered. OUr main priority is not scheme based, there are a few things.. but my main concern is this, play our best football game of the year going forward.

4. What can we do to get back to a competive level.
Ans. You have to get a guy that understands this place, wether from here or not. Embrace the culture. Recruiting footprint, it is a tough league, but we have all seen ebbs and flows and seen the Razorbacks be SEC Contenders. It has been done before and can be done again. My favorite movie is the Edge about killing a bear, and he had to be taught that he could do it. What one team can do another can do. We have to keep these players together to mature and grow together..

Is there a route back to the team for C.J. Ogrady
And what can be done to compete..
Ans... No, there is not!!!!!

Less about scheme and players with great resolve and character.

He said he had a conversation the Sunday after the Mississippi State game and told Chaddish that he needed to see major improvement against WKU and that Chard pretty much knew it was over before they met after the WKU game.

He's certainly saying all the right things. I trust him to get the best we can land, and saying that it's necessary to give them time to recruit this class is a good sign

My sole focus is to play our best games of the year, we have some black eyes, and it is embarrassing.

We will have a chance to win some football games.

BOB AGAIN!
Question... I know this is your dream job but do you feel like you can have a chance.

Ans. I am the right guy for this time being, for these next few games. I remember Joe Kines and he wasn't perfect, but he gave us some hope and some confidence and it was needed. I want to do that for our players.

I will continue being TE coach, and Daniel will need to step up in special teams

Ques.. Have you decided on the starting QB yet
Ans.. I still haent decided who will be the punter, we have some time to figure that out. To Laughs

Exactly, I'm very glad we are getting a head start on most others in terms of finding a coach. He already has a list so he was prepared for this day.
