Atleast our defense is elite.

I'm not hitting the panic button yet, but it's starting to concern me a bit. I keep thinking any game now shots will just begin to start dropping, but they're not for some reason.

We're 8-0 and have played several teams projected to make the tournament, IDGAF about the offense

I wasn't exactly bitching as much as it was an observation.

One of the biggest reasons is the tempo difference. More chances to score in Mike's system.
Plenty of room for improvement on the offensive side of the ball but hard to be playing this level of defense and put up high numbers on the offensive side.

Had we not turned the ball over 398 times tonight we’d have won by 25.

We shot fairly well as a team from deep tonight, but Joe's struggles stick out a lot. He's playing himself into coming back next season so far.

We just have to settle for jumpers 80% of the time because of size but mike didn’t have an offense. We actually have sets now.

I think it's just taking time to learn the offense and reacting without thinking. Is or FG% better this year? I think it will be, if it's not already.

By my count we had zero transition points tonight. That’s weird

We are 8-0. Who gives a frick? Also, we got 4 scorers coming in next year. With this defense we will have a chance to win every game.

We are MUCH MUCH better off with this coach and system.
The focus on defense will impact the offense a bit...frankly the kids are working a LOT harder on defense and rebounding the ball.
Turnovers are really the issue. WIth Muss's system everything is based upon efficiency and turnovers really hurt. That combined with our 3 point shooters being a bit more tired from actually having to play defense results in a bit lower offensive output. Every one of our 3 point shooters 3pt% is down from last year and fatigue is likely a part of that.
Depth is also an issue that will bite us before the year is over...size is obvious.
The difference is we are developing and maximizing the talent we have now. Give this guy the talent we've got and one solid big and we become an incredibly hard to beat team.

Hate how we never ever seen to push the pace and try to score in transition.
But we’re 8-0 so I’ll STFU until it’s a real problem.

We do though, just not late if the game is in hand. I can't remember which post game it was, but i was surprised whenever I heard muss say being up 15 with 5 minutes left, we knew mathematically we could win. I don't recall if those are the right numbers but it was a margin I personally wouldn't feel comfortable with, but one where he obviously felt in control and wanted to slow down the game a lot.

Musselman's offense will be fine. The problem right now is certain players are passing up good looks because they don't trust their shot. When they pass those looks up we end up forcing something which has led to the turnovers. That has to change.
It was good to see Jalen and Desi knock down a couple threes each. If they can shoot 30-40 percent from deep we will be A LOT better.
Isaiah HAS to be at 40% or higher from deep this year. Currently he's at 32.9% which isn't going to cut it. This team needs him to produce when he gets looks.
Mason is about the same as Isaiah, but he creates a large amount of his shots 1on1. Mason's problem is that he trusts his drive game a little too much. He's not athletic enough to drive in the lane with reckless abandon. I'm ok with mason shooting some step back threes and attacking when it's there. He just has to stop driving with his head down. Looks like a bull in a china shop.
I really like what Jimmy Whitt provides on offense. He's always under control and makes the correct decision 95% of the time. I can't really think of one glaring thing to complain about with him. Well, other than his free throw form
Overall I see A LOT of upside with this team, and hopefully with time they will all trust their abilities.

I believe part of the problem is that the new system is the exact opposite of the old one. Before it was all about number of possessions. They looked for a quick shot to keep the tempo up. Now they are being taught to pass several times on eaxh possession before taking a shot. They havent gotten into a rhythm on offense because they are constantly thinking about what to do next. It will take time, but I am confident we will be as happy with the offense as we are with the defence once it starts to click for these guys and especially next year when he gets more pieces in place.

I agree on the statistical approach for sure.
But the GT game was BRUTAL. It was begging for us to push the ball and we kept playing right into their slow set defense.

It will be interesting to see what his team looks like a few years from now. The reason I say that is because his teams at Nevada weren't known for playing defense. But when he got here he was given full court press athletes and he turned them into a lockdown defensive first squad. He adjusted his system to fit his roster.
He has access to different caliber athletes here than he did in Nevada I think. And he didn't do much recruiting, instead relying heavily on the transfer portal. Things are different here though. He will recruit more than he did there and he will have a larger talent pool to draw from.
It will be interesting to see how he builds his team moving forward because so far, throughout his entire collegiate coaching career, he has been working with restrictions.
And like you, I think the offense will come along just fine. It's just gonna take longer for the players to get the hang of it.
