Ok, he scored 3 points yesterday. Does that discount that his offenses were very good here (especially for Arkansas standards) and that he's never had an offense look as anemic and disjointed over an entire season as Enos has this year?

TCU's starting QB is injured btw

Nah. I’ll agree with you.

Just saying our problems are much deeper but feels like we agree. That change was one a big mistake in a long line of them. Both probably Sam and HY alike.

You must have missed his time at Miami and Maryland.

Lies, damned lies, and statistics.

His offenses work when he has a QB who is physically and mentally capable to play at the next level.

He had a QB physically capable here...

Get ready to "welcome back" Loggains lame arse now.

The silver lining of this shitshow of a season is that both Loggains and Lunney are doing terribly at USCe and Illinois.

South Carolina is in nearly as bad a shape as we are and most likely won’t go bowling.

Illinois isn’t far off, and is currently 81st in total offense and 111th in scoring offense.

So loving the helmet might not be enough to overcome that stank, fortunately.

Don't I recall a lot of beotching on here about Briles last season?
I don't recall much wailing and gnashing of teeth either when he left.
I've never seen this board flip on someone as fast as they flipped on Briles once he was gone.

Last year he was a Mickey Mouse offense full of empty calories that could gain yards but not get in the endzone, this year he would have had us winning the West.

Enos has never had an offense look this anemic and disjointed over an entire season either. Maryland threw for nearly 4,000 yards in 2021 and had ypg/ppg averages that were almost identical to Briles' offense here.

The real problems are still on the roster.

I'm done giving the benefit of the doubt to the players after what I saw this last Saturday. They flat out quit in a 7-3 game with the ball and a chance to win. KJ rolling his eyes and just general pathetic behavior for a "team leader". I don't give a damn how much you dislike your coaches, you start quitting in the middle of winnable games and I'm done with you. Shitty attitudes are as much of a problem as coaching and talent based on what I saw against State.

I get the push to “do something” because fans are mad and what we got ain’t working. So in such times coaches look around to change something in hopes that it will make everyone feel better, at least temporarily. You have to be able to assuage the natives’ anger and anguish. The fan base wants to see a head or heads on a spit well just because things have got to be different. So an assistant coach in an area where we are not performing to expectations is always going to be an easy target. We’ve seen it before.

It’s doubtful that making the change accomplishes much at this juncture, but even if they magically find a pulse on offense you have the cause and effect issue: Did they get better simply because the OC was fired? I think the chaotic and troublesome state of Arkansas football runs much deeper than that.

I certainly haven’t forgotten the threads to have Briles fired and then threads I see now saying we’d be glad to have him back as our OC. And if you go back to Enos’ first tour with the Hogs you’ll find threads praising him and wanting him to remain as the OC at Arkansas. “Enos Envy” was a thing back then so much so that his contract non compete clause within the SEC was a topic of discussion. LINK Peoples’ memories are short and in an ongoing state of flux as they struggle to find a fix for a team AND program that overall is just not good.

Of course the head hog hired him and believed him to be the man for OC and I haven’t seen anything that caused me to believe Enos was violating CSP’s directives as far as running the offense or having schemes not a part of CSP’s philosophy. I seriously doubt CSP completely turned over the reigns to him and said do whatever it is you want to do. Pre-season CSP stated that Enos was the best play caller he had ever worked with. LINK. His philosophy and schemes as to offenses was well known to CSP before the hire was made. And it wasn’t as if Enos wrecked a motorcycle with his girlfriend on board and then lied about it. But someone, outside of the head coach perhaps, has to serve as the scapegoat when things are not going well.

So we’ve made another change in the landscape of what is the intellectual desert sands of Arkansas football. But as I’ve said before I don’t see them righting the tFlagship football program anytime soon, if ever.

extremely well thought out and written. You probably make a heck of an attorney.

I agree with this as well. I want some hope, but quite frankly it seem daunting in the least.

I remember "enos envy" very well and also remember the smiles on the sideline when BA threw for those numbers. A thing of absolute beauty. It is a crap show up there folks, and one not easily fixed by anybody.

Pretty much. I claimed that Pittman was slowing him down inside the 20s all last year which kept us from scoring, but I was a kook.

That’s why I said we shouldn’t go after Lebby he is basically the same as Briles, but now everyone is pushing for him. I think most people want to be unhappy.

Easily fixed? No.

But one that absolutely CAN be fixed. It's just going to take a young, hungry coach that wants to get after it and change the culture while making a name for himself. All the other pieces are there, such as facilities, NIL money, fan support, being in the premier conference, divisions going away so we're not trapped with deadly schedules every single year, a great AD, etc.

All the pieces are there for the right coach to succeed and at least build Arkansas back to a respectable, tough program. The expectations aren't too high to achieve for the right guy, it's just going to take patience from the fanbase.

I am a bit hard headed. On Nil money. We are top 15 in Basketball, Muss has been asking for much more and not getting it. In Football we are not even top 25. This is as per 247 folks in the know. and I believe it.

His replacement notched up 41 points in his first game against BYU. Then came the 3 point stinker. Plus they were replacing Chandler Morris, not Peyton Manning.

TCU fans would gladly pay us to take Kendell Briles back right now.

Our offense was smoke and mirrors under Briles and it more or less worked.
