Don't worry it will happen again but every coach does it.

I actually think Kelly can run the offense. throw it deep and present a running threat is all you really need

Kelly is not the stereotype QB that they are looking for, but I think if his accuracy is a little better, and he can stay out of 3rd and gotta pass, he won't be too big of a liability. Not going to break very many 20 yarders, but he's tough to keep from getting 3 or 4 yards.

He was only a RS Freshman last year, still has time to improve if he sticks around. Just look how bad BA was early in his career.

If we can get CK to be similar to dak, and that he can get those tough 2-3 yards, then he will present enough of a running threat that we can use him effectively in this offense.

Has to improve his accuracy though.

To be honest, he was never really put in a position to succeed. Similar to how Austin Allen just totally tanked last season. Maybe playing in an offense that actually puts guys in a position to make plays will help turn some of those issues around.

CK similar to Dak.

The Oline is a cobbled together mess thanks to the two fat guys.

Lack of a QB and an OL. will keep us out of the independence Bowl.

Only one caveat, another QB blossoms late in the season.

Amen.

Hugo Bezdek went 5-4 his first year. His next the Hogs went 7-0 with wins over LSU and Oklahoma and outscored opponents 186-18.

Frank Broyles went 4-6 his first year. Nick Saban went 6-6 his first year at Alabama.

Judging a coach by how they do in their first year at a school, particularly when that school is coming out of a lackluster couple of seasons is a great way to make sure you never get a really good coach at your school.

This is a super easy schedule though. All 4 nonconf should be easy Ws. Then we beat one of missouri or ole miss or miss state and then beat Kentucky we are bowl eligible. That is not asking a whole lot

He had a senior QB. That's already a gift Morris doesn't have.

Correct, and his toughest OOC game wasn't on the road against a middle of the pack MW team. It was on the road against NC contender Texas. He was able to take advantage of shitty Auburn and LSU's worst team in the Miles era to get two conference wins the same way Morris should take advantage of home games against Vandy and sanctioned Ole Miss.

We lost to both Missouri and State last year and beat Ole Miss by one point. There's no such thing as an easy schedule when you're at the bottom of the conference.

Dude that Senior QB was Casey Dick who got more flak from Hog fans than underclassman Brandon Allen. That SR QB got benched 3/4 of the way through the season for his freshman brother who later transferred to UCA.

You'd rather have Kelly in his first year as a starter than senior Casey Dick? You realize Dick threw for 2500 yards at 7 yards per completion and 57% completion percentage under Petrino right? Dick got flack under Nutt because Nutt didn't develop QB's. His senior year he was actually serviceable in Petrino's system. If Kelly throws for 2500 at 57% this year I'll be on cloud 9.

I feel like the offense will struggle mightily.

Even Morris' first SMU team, the one that was devoid of talent and went 2-10, had a decent offense that only had a few shitty games. They went 2-10 because they gave up 50+ points to almost every opponent. I feel confident the offense will produce at a respectable level.

So you're saying a new, more QB friendly offensive system made a difference for an underperforming QB?
