Two things, Shaddy being greedy wanting to record the final out and just completely misplaying the ball by multiple feet.
And then Cole for not overriding Shaddy and going for what would have been a rather easy catch for him.

It was such a horseshite play by Shaddy.
Hometown kid trying to hog the final out to win the NC and cuts off our first baseman and right fielder and runs them out of the play.

It was Cole's ball. Gates had the worst angle of the 3 and a good 2nd baseman really should still make that olay but yes cole should've called him off.

Then Cole strikes out looking. We need him and the rest of the guys to pull their heads out of their asses at the plate. We take way too many good pitches looking. Then they swing at shite pitches.

You are blaming the wrong person. Cole has to take charge and call him off there. It is an outfielders job to catch any balll that they can get to without diving.

Nevermind this the first time facing the same opponent twice and soon to be three times away from Baum in the post season.

We’ll probably be going up against their last two guys from last night in Abel and Mulholland. The latter being another fresh lefty and the Abel kid some filthy breaking balls which is our Achilles heel lately.
