Better off for Martin, he was going to be splitting playing time at best on team USA.

Gets to go work on things in the Cape for 5-6 weeks.

3 games in CF is interesting.

The scouts I read last year didn't think Martin would play infield as a pro either.

I liked him at 3rd, but he never settled in at short. With his speed CF makes a lot of sense.

He played 3B too but wasn't going to get a consistent starting spot on team USA.

DVH says the bullpen is the biggest question mark for 2020. Kopps for 3rd starter.

quote:

“We’re going to give Kopps every opportunity to start,” Van Horn said. “We already know he can be a middle man, a guy that can come in. He’s really good at that as well. I mean, yeah, he could close some games.”

quote:

Additionally, there are several incoming freshmen that will have an opportunity to step up and fill in next season. Particularly, Springdale Har-Ber righty Blake Adams, who many believe could compete for a starting role as a freshman. He was rated the No. 1 prospect in the state of Arkansas according to Perfect Game.

“I’ve seen his velocity fluctuate all over the map, from upper-80s to 93, 94,” Van Horn said. “We hear about it, then we go watch him pitch and it’s 90. It’s not all about the velocity. He’s got a good curveball. I think he has a lot of confidence in it. I think when he gets with Coach Hobbs, I think consistently his fastball is going to stay 92-plus. I’m not going to say he’s going to throw 98, but he’s a big kid and he’s getting bigger. I think when we get him, it’s going to jump. I think Blake Adams has a real opportunity to help us right away.”

D1 Baseball 8 for Omaha 2020

quote:

Arkansas

The Hogs made back-to-back trips to the College World Series the last two seasons with vastly different results. Arkansas went 0-2 in Omaha this past June, and that’ll serve as a source of motivation with this group going into the fall and certainly the spring. The Hogs have some holes to fill offensively with the departures of Dominic Fletcher and Jack Kenley, but who will be 2020’s Jack Kenley? You know someone will step up and assume that role. Arkansas returns arguably the best nucleus of hitters in college baseball in 2020, welcoming back Heston Kjerstad, Casey Martin and Matt Goodheart, who was outstanding this past season. Casey Opitz also returns and should have a better offensive campaign, while TCU transfer Coby Boulware is a terrific fit for the Arkansas offensive system. Last but not least, Christian Franklin will have a terrific 2020 campaign and Jacob Nesbit is another pick to click. Mark it down. This will be a potent offense.

On the mound, Arkansas will be without righthander Isaiah Campbell and closer Matt Cronin, but options are aplenty on this team. Connor Noland and Patrick Wicklander showed flashes of greatness and have another offseason to fine-tune their craft, while the bullpen options are aplenty as well. Kole Ramage, Zebulon Vermillion, Elijah Trest, Jacob Burton, among others, will headline the bullpen.

Arkansas

The Razorbacks look built to make a third straight Omaha run despite the losses of ace Isaiah Campbell, fellow All-American Jack Kenley, dynamic center fielder Dominic Fletcher and valuable senior Trevor Ezell. Rising juniors Casey Martin and Heston Kjerstad give the Hogs a pair of established superstars to build the lineup around. Leading hitter Matt Goodheart is also back, and expect offensive jumps from rising sophomores Christian Franklin, Jacob Nesbit and Casey Opitz (who rates as one of the best returning defensive catchers in the country). The recruiting class will also help fill some holes, as outfielder Jason Hodges is a blue-chip incoming freshman, while catcher Nathan Stevens and outfielder Jesse Pierce should be quality building blocks.

Arkansas used two freshmen in its weekend rotation in 2019, and it’s logical to expect sophomore jumps from Connor Noland and Patrick Wicklander, giving the Hogs a quality one-two punch. Zebulon Vermillion has an electric arm and should be a major breakout candidate next spring. Incoming freshmen Blake Adams, Zack Morris and Evan Gray will help restock the pitching depth.

Cuba, for some reason, is insisting on running on Casey Opitz. The

Curtis Washington Jr is raking in the Cape. Hit his 3rd HR tonight a 3 run shot.

During the 8 game stretch CJ is slashing .448/.564/.621 with 3 doubles, a triple, 7 BBs, and 4 SBs for the @CapeCatfish

Washington is playing in the Prospect League not the Cape Cod League.

His team name is Cape Catfish.

Oh okay, assumed the Cape name was short for well, a Cape team.

Still good to see him raking, with his power potential and his speed.

Zack Plunkett struck out the side in 10 pitches in his pro pitching debut.

Watch him be some big time MLB pitcher now

Got this from the other board. It's a great tool to track our current players and commits for the 2020 MLB Draft.

LINK

They've ranked the overall top 200 prospects for the 2020 Draft and Arkansas has 11 of them for the time being.

Noland is the #5 "unranked" college pitcher while Vermilion is the #21 "unranked" college pitcher. Hog commit Clayton Gray is the #10 "unranked" high school position player.

Overall, all of these players are in the top 342 prospects according to that site.

Not sure but he's gone to professional ball.

Goodheart had labrum surgery on one shoulder.
