Agreed. A&M coming to the SEC has not been good for us in any way, shape or form. It’ll be the exact same with OU.

A&M is making this big push knowing Texas enters in a couple years and no more advantage.

They are pumping as much money as possible through that football program to be relevant with Jimbo.

Where is all the Aggy money coming from? Is it just NIL promises that we've never heard of, or are they still offering cars and cash and white womenz under the table like the old days?

I'll give them this, they ain't frickin around. Like you said, they see Texas and OU coming and they're going to do everything they can to remain relevant and avoid falling back into the old SWC days of pecking order.

I don't care who you are, if you put together top 3 class after top 3 class, a walking vegetable can win a national title in college football (well, unless that vegetable is named Kirby).

There's obviously a reason Jimbo kept turning down lsu over the past 5-10 years. While the school has elite talent all around it, basically no one else but maybe Texas and Oregon (factoring in Phil Knight $$) has the kind of booster and money base to subsidize a program.

Sam is getting there alot faster than I expected, and his recruting is really starting to take shape, but damn, we need one of those fortune 100 billionaires in NWA to step it up... Big time.

Were rumors of bitcoin and all kinds of stuff when they hosted big recruiting events back in the summer.

Who, A&M?

On the the rant someone has the same question.

quote:

For A&M, it's local businesses within 100 miles of College Station that use the players to promote their products and the "bag men" pay for the advertisements, enabling both the business and the player to benefit. If you ever take the time to listen to KZNE or WTAW, you will hear advertisements involving A&M players at least once each commercial break.

Then someone else said this:

quote:

Also this year, the number of A&M players making money off of NIL has been plain stupid. TexAgs has exclusive interviews at least once a week, in addition to the spots mentioned above. Autograph sessions, advertising, you name it.

quote:

Bitcoin

Hasn't Clemson been using Bitcoin for years, or at least that was always the rumor. They were waaaayyyy ahead of the curve if so. Just think what many of those Deshaun Watson/Hunter Renfro era guys got Bitcoin at. That shite was priced around $300-$700 around 2014-15.

Today it's $51K.

I’d feel a little uneasy if I was an A&M fan. Reminds me of when ole miss flew too close to the sun. It hasn’t really been tested how far the ncaa is going to let this NIL deal go. Obviously players can be paid by businesses, but if they’re just using local businesses as middle men… I’m sure they aren’t the only ones doing this but they sure are stepping out to be made an example of, should the ncaa decide to

Arkansas having unusually weak instate classes and terrible coaches were more to blame than A&M IMO. I don't disagree with your assertion though. It was nice being able to offer Oklahoma kids the chance to play in the SEC.

Arkansas recruits regionally while Oklahoma recruited nationwide. The rise of other Texas schools such as TCU and Baylor has made Texas recruiting harder. Then the Aggies joined and other SEC schools that didn't traditionally recruit Texas have been getting players such as Ole Miss and Bama. Programs like Ohio State that haven't recruited Texas in the past are getting players from that state.

Arkansas hasn't been a factor in Texas since joining the SEC.

Maybe it'll just spread the 5* talent around between Alabama, Georgia, Auburn, LSU, Florida, OU, Texas and A&M instead of it all going to Alabama or Georgia. I mean there are only so many elite players to recruit with all of these big time programs fighting for it. Still will be difficult for us to compete against those programs but maybe not as impossible as Alabama has been under Saban with 5* players stockpiled all the way 1-85 on the roster.

I don't disagree about A&M but I think the Big 12 basically becoming more irrelevant helps more than OU joining hurts. Plenty of talent going to OSU, TCU, Baylor, etc that we should have a better shot at.

Oklahoma doesn't benefit at all from joining the SEC. They are doing it not because they want to but to stay relevant.

Assuming their newly opened path to the playoff doesn’t drive the talent there instead of to us with our two new possible losses on our schedule.

Texas and Oklahoma should be concerned about having more possible losses on the schedule.

This. I actually think it hurts them as they stop winning 10 games 90% of the time.

Long time until Dec 15th with LSU hiring Frank Wilson and retaining Corey Raymond. They are hosting a big event this weekend for LSU commits.
