I have decided that I owe some/all of you an apology for jumping the gun on my dislike of the Musselman hire. The truth is I wanted Marshall, and when I heard he was on campus I let myself get excited for no reason. Thus, my ill will toward Musselman was unwarranted.
Consider this Fanatic's official apology (in the 3rd person) thread. While I don't enjoy CEM's style of offense or his offensive philosophy, I am willing to give him a chance. He may do well, he may not. But I hope he kicks some fricken arse in the SEC, and he has to better than Mike. So for that Im ALL ABOARD on the Muss Bus.
So go ahead and downvote the shite outta me now boys and get it outta your system. I owe ya that chance

I don't like Virginia's either. If you're a Virginia fan, I bet you sure like the winning though.

Marshall only talked so he could negotiate a raise at WS. He is afraid of a power conference.

Its better than some of the other guys in the running or guys who weren't but a large faction of the fanbase clamors over.
Seth Davis is currently trying to spin UVA and TTU as being "good offensive teams", its not that they are bad just the defense is this good, this will be his line at the half with a nailbiter 12-15 score.

More like he is afraid of bad jobs. Plenty of coaches are like this.
Anderson turned down Bama and Auburn, it isn't that he was afraid to coach in the SEC, its both of those are bad jobs. Marshall turned down Bama as well, he was willing to take a bad job in SCAR, but he is from the area so it sort of made sense at the time.
Musselman essentially turned down Cal and Wash State, those are both bad jobs.
WSU is a better job than plenty of P5 schools, your don't have to be in a P5 conference to have a realistic shot at a NC like in football. Jobs like this pay well without unrealistic expectations for the job itself, Marshall isn't going to be fired for having a down year and failing to reach the tournament, not advancing far enough in the tourney etc, its better to keep these jobs until an actual "good job" opens up. Think of all the year Miller stayed at Dayton instead of taking the first shite P5 job that came along, he ended getting a good job at place that is focused on basketball success. Not a job that demands success but puts all available resources into football (Bama for example).

Yep. And to that point, I will like CEMs offense better than Virginia's, so it could always be worse.

I agree moment....His percentage has fallen off since they jumped conference. I did NOT want Marshall.
At first I was not a fan of Muss at least during the talking process. But after doing my research he was my second pick behind Beard. Honestly he's a better fit than Beard. He may not win as much but people will want to come see his teams without some of the problems Mike had. Roster management, in game coaching etc...

Per the Rivals board, from the dude that has been spot on the entire time, Marshall is basically a huge dick, was "offended" by the largely incentive based contract and his wife was a mess.
Huge respect for HY building a contrac that basically says, win and we will pay the shite out of you. Otherwise, why would I pay you this much money up front?
Apparently everyone was turned off by him and his overall attitude. He hasn't done a whole lot in 4 seasons to act like a BSD.
I seem to recall him turning a lot of teams off after the final four runs as well.
We did fine with the hire.

Did not know this. Thanks for the info.
I know that the kid from Cedar Ridge a few years ago went to WSU and stayed for a year then transferred out. Cant remember his name though. He was a good player and came off the bench as a freshman, always wondered why he left.
Maybe bc Marshall was a dick?
