It's interesting just because of Wes leaving at seasons end to UGA, so a pitcher going somewhere with no pitching coach is a bit weird.

Of course some think he stays at Tenn and this is for more money.

LSU has the name and has boosters that give a shite about BB and will give NIL. Arkansas has boosters that care, but will do more for facility upgrades. We need a Mandy Hunt type for the baseball team. Otherwise, LSU is about to start another dynasty. They are getting transfers this portal season: Justin Loer, Kade Woods, and maybe even Nate Snead. It's ridiculous.

I know we have Aloy, White, Wagner, Hewlett, but it makes you wonder wtf Matt Hobbs is doing to help recruiting bullpen arms from the transfer portal.

In today's climate, you better start funneling those dollars in NIL deals. If you don't, you'll be a has been. That's where we are at now-a-days.

The type of studs that you need aren't coming on campus for simply facilities and coaches. Any premier SEC baseball school will have great baseball facilities and coaches. You have to appeal to the game changing talent by NIL.

Agreed. We just don't have it like LSU does.

I don't know about LSU having another dynasty but Jay Johnson is likely to win a title in his second year and that just sucks.

It isn't that Arkansas doesn't care, they just don't have as many boosters as the bigger states.

I don't think LSU really cares about the facilities as much as Arkansas because in the end the players care about how much NIL they are getting than some nice leather recliner in the locker room that doesn't help them win ball games.

Hobbs is helping recruiting by taking recruits to sonic and buying them all a sonic blast.

I am sick and tired of watching all of our rivals win the CWS.

It is pretty wild that it’s about to be 3 straight years of a different SEC West team winning the title while we’ve had the best record overall during that timeframe. Baseball is such a frustrating sport.

It could be worse...the goofy arse aggies could stumble around next year like drunk chimps to the CWS and win it.

Or even worse the gumps who call it a niche sport and never watch baseball find themselves winning the damned thing. Then all of a sudden are experts and big fans of baseball.

To add insult to injury, this the winner of Florida/LSU will be the 4th different SEC team to win the CWS since we dropped the foul ball.

I doubt those programs would trade those titles for having the best record in the SEC.

I am starting to question if we would fair better if DVH hung up that hat. Who would we hire though?

baseball is the most random sport where the best team rarely wins. It’s the reason the mlb plays 162 regular season games and it’s always a series. All you can do is put a ball team on the field that can compete and DVH does that year in and year out. You don’t run him off, because we’re more likely to end up like ole miss or state than we are to find jay johnson and win a title in year 2.

I think it's more LSU approaching roster building like the Yankees than it is anything Jay Johnson is exclusively doing. Boosters just buy him a new Ferrari to drive every year.

It's so depressing how good we are at stealing defeat from the jaws of victory. Stolen from tRant:

I’ll take Vitello.

He’s a good coach and outstanding recruiter, and he’s toned down the bullshite after last year. What the guy has done at Tennessee since year 2 has been pretty incredible for a program that isn’t a traditional baseball power.

2019: Regional
2020: 15-2 when season got canceled
2021: CWS
2022: historically great team
2023: CWS

I think he would take the job if he was offered and Wes Johnson is another to look at if he does well at Georgia.

Agreed, I do like having two former DVH assistants at SEC jobs, neither of which is a traditional baseball power.
