It’s really not a big mystery what we’re missing when you watch the other S16/E8 games. We’ve gotta find guys that do all the things Muss wants to do AND shoot the 3.
No other teams are out there trying to win without hitting threes. You can’t trade twos that have a 40% conversion rate for threes that have a 35% conversion rate.
We took 664 “far 2s” this year and made 35.5%. That’s archaic basketball. UCONN shot 200 less far twos and took 360 more three point attempts.

Doesn’t change the fact that it’s a terrible comparison.
On a per minute basis kamani also out rebounds black. Some teams have guards that can rebound and having guys in the paint that are capable of blocking shots leads the opposing offense to shoot more jumpers, which allows for more long rebounds.

Yep, we shoot more midrange jumpers than any team I’ve seen. Bad way to try to win.

Says the guy who posted a team stat talking about a position. Lol.
You should post wins for a pitcher next.

Devo hinting about Olivari from Rice? Or just tweeting about Rice from the Longhorns?

From Kevin Mc:
quote:
Source confirms Arkansas will have an in-home visit with Florida International sophomore transfer Denver Jones (6-4 guard) ... 20.1 points, 3.8 rebounds, 2.0 assists, 1.8 steals, 47.8% field goals, 59-159 from 3 for 37.1%, and 84.5% free throws ... 7 games of 25-plus points and 11 games with 3-plus triples in '22-23.

Yes please.
Just watched his highlights.
Gets good lift on his jumpshot and has good form. Confident shooter for sure.
Looks like he can get to the basket easily as well.
Doesn't use his left hand much, but that's something that can be developed.

looks like he prefers the mid range shot. Kind of Devo-esque with less defense

If Muss pulled Jabari Rice from Texas on a grad transfer deal I’d crap myself.
Pretty sure he’s on his Covid year now though. Graduated in 2017 transferred to Texas last year.

This kid said yesterday that he’s already talked to all of our coaches including Miss and we’re going to visit him in person next week.

Is there a link on that?

In my opinion right now:
Back:
Devo
Walsh
Pinion
Ford
TB
On the fence:
Dunning
Graham
Mitchell Twins
RC4
Gone:
Smith
Black
Johnson
New additions:
Blocker
Fall
I think the most interesting move here is the Mitchell twins. I'm not convinced from what I've seen of Fall that he can come in and be that dude in the middle. TB can provide minutes there but offensively he's more of a stretch 4.
I'm in the camp that I hope Ford and Dunning stay. I think they both could develop into the kind of players that you need in your program.
Pinion.... is what it is... he can shoot it but I'm not sure how much he helps in other phases.... but then again we proved this year a consistent shooter would have been invaluable.

What do we think about Blocker? Saw it mentioned that he's not a 3 point shooter but he looks like a much more natural shooter than AB. Obviously doesn't have his size but looks more explosive off the dribble. I think he starts unless we get a big time PG transfer

A quicker and more athletic Devo

Just a look back at last year's portal commits:
Brazile - Mar 31
Graham - April 7
Mitchells - April 7
RC4 - May 16
So I assume we end up with some announcements fairly soon

RC4 I'm ambivalent. I think we can find someone with a similar skillset that can shoot better.
I want Council back bad if we can get some 3 point shooters. His midrange will be unstoppable if we can space the floor. He had to crash the lane all year with multiple people in there.

I'm in agreement. We didn't get his full potential without a true floor spacer in brazile

His midrange is not a strong suit of his game. Those are what we call long or difficult 2s. No one is winning taking a large amount of these in today's game...

We seem to be an outlier in terms of shot selection amongst the successful teams in recent years. I think it has more to do with personnel than Muss's system though
