Ole Miss was very good last year but suffered injuries. This Arkansas team is "good" but isn't enough to be in the contention for a national seed. Not with all these injuries that keep showing up and some glaring flaws that will take time to fix. Add in a very tough schedule and most fans should be just happy making a regional.

I've accepted that we're never going to win it all. We're just cursed.

We should host and win a regional. Anything after that is a bonus for this team.

Well they should have last year. I don't see this team hosting a regional with this schedule.

yeah we're going to get smacked around by South Carolina and Vanderbilt. Should win the A&M series but could easily lose at State.

It all just depends on injuries to me.
How long is Josenberger out? What level is Wegner gonna be at when he comes back? Which Tygart are we getting? If the answers break our way, we might could go on a run like last year. If not, we might be in for a tough last month of the regular season.

Dave may have to get back to more small ball with this team. In game two with bases loaded and no outs a bunt to score a run should have been considered or done.
With the injuries changing the landscape a bit maybe changing the game plan could help while they are recovering. And maybe these guys with low batting averages can sacrifice bunt to advance runners. It aggravates me to no end when I know there is a batter or two coming up with runners on base with one out or less and one or both dudes are going to strike the frick out or finally make contact and hit into a double play.
But what the heck do I know…..

Have to think we’d have stuck the landing on this one if we had DVH in the dugout.
Hobbs seemed to have a bad feel for pitching changes late in the game, and Bybee was a strange move in an increasingly high leverage situation in the 9th.
He had Bybee and Morris warming up in the 9th when Foutch started getting in trouble. Elson even had a noticeable ‘WTF’ tone on the radio when we he said “and Zack Morris is warming up in the bullpen.”

Our pitching is a crapshoot right now.

Yep.
The story of this weekend was the one bad inning, which occurred in all three games.
Game 1 — gave up 5 runs in the 3rd.
Game 2 — gave up 4 runs in the 2nd.
Game 3 — gave up 5 runs in the 9th.
Oddly enough, games 1 and 2 were on the starters, whereas game 3 was a bullpen collapse.

I seem to remember a poster or two saying not to talk shite after sweeping Tennessee because the baseball gods will get us.

Every year since then it’s felt like we had a real shot to make it to Omaha and maybe win the damn thing but I’ve just never felt that way watching this club. I think it’s because to me we don’t have an identity. We don’t play great defense, we don’t rake at the plate, and we can’t shut you down on the bump. We’re just good enough to show flashes at points. Maybe it’ll start to click, if anyone can figure it out DVH is the guy.

That's me. You don't frick with the baseball gods.
I used to be a bat flipper, but have 100% repented and realized that the baseball gods hate that shite. The 2021 season broke me and made me realize that baseball is easily the most cruelest sport of all.
We have a few posters that go on tRant retarding the joint up after wins and it makes me cringe. If I believed in Voodoo, I'd get out my doll and pin prick it in the honor of our fans that openly taunt the baseball gods with their braggadocios ways.

College baseball is the most dumb, weird, random sport where little makes sense.
Ole Miss winning last year was the baseball equivalent of an 8-4 team winning the National Championship in football.

If anyone is old enough to remember Fresno State winning it all, that pretty much sums up how weird college baseball can be.

Ever since Nate Thompson was hired seems like we've left a shite ton of runners on base. Maybe I wrong but it damn sure seems that way.
It definitely cost us two wins this weekend.

I feel better about this year’s team than last year’s. And we were a game away from the CWS finals last year.

Sometimes a warrior just has to lay down on the ground, just stay there for a second and have a good bleed. Just bleed.

Back away from the ledge folks. I saw us lay down and look like crap in Starkville back in 18. Same story. Teams that go far in Omaha have weeks like this each year. Not saying we won't struggle but our resume and team is still more stacked than most.

Yeah we fell from #5 all the way down to #7 in D1’s poll
