We all knew it in the back of our minds yet we never learn.

Would have rather had a Stanley Umede or Toney.

I’m sure Muss will learn from this.

we can only like him if he's scoring points for the team Rev. we can't accept he's injured and even if he is, shouldn't he be willing to tough it out and risk long term damage to play so our fans can celebrate a potential championship run?

Going forward I'm just going to assume he'll never play for us. If he does great.

This team is capable of great things without him.

Who had Pinion and Kamani as the potential savoir of the season...

Pinion is legit. I expected him to get minutes in SEC play for his ability to bust zones. Just wish Muss had played him more earlier.

On AB, I don't think he's a great PG either. He's physically gifted, likes to pass and he's a very good player, but just not a great PG, yet. Of course I'll get downvoted for saying it, but Devo has been a better PG and I suspect that a number comparison would prove it. AB has far more potential, however.

Edit: Updated to admit that I was wrong, after looking at the stats, but the a/to ratio isn't much different.

To me, before the injuries, the players we had on the court made Devo look average. I mean that as no insult to Devo, but those guys are bigger, longer and more effective.

Devo stepped up tonight and I am proud of his effort.

He's playing his game now. Drive to the basket and either pass or pull up for a short jumper.

I think part of my appreciation for Devo is due to how the game has passed me by. I still think of the game as it was 30-40 years ago, when Devo would have been more valuable. Today it seems like you're nothing if you can't shoot the ball, but Devo still plays a lot for good reason. It's not like Muss hasn't had other options for the last few years.

Devo is a good point guard. You’ll hear people say the cliche “if we had a true point guard” every year. Devo is that guy but he’s playing in an era where he’s expected to be something more than that.

I wish he’d focus on being the next Rajon Rondo and let Nick Smith or Ricky Council worry about scoring 20 ppg.

I’m glad Muss pivoted to Pinion. As soon as NSJ went down the second time it was clear that Pinion and/or Ford was going to be pressed into action a year sooner than anticipated. Just Black, Devo, Walsh and Council won’t cut it from an offensive production standpoint.

I know Muss likes a 6 man rotation but without Smith or Brazile this team has to play 7 or 8 in order to play to its strengths.

Mizzou game grades:

Pinion +3.5
Kamani +1.3
Council +1.1
Makhi +0.5
Walsh +0.2
Devo -0.4
Black -2.9

This was Council's first game back on the plus side since OU, so hopefully that 2nd half broke him out of a slump. He was -18 in the first half according to shootah

Solid Q1 win last night.

Next two games are both Q1 as well.

Torvik model has us losing by 1 to Auburn. Going 1-1 vs Aub/Bama would be fine but we'd have a nice early resume built if we could win both. This would be a good road game to steal.

Auburn just had their worst game of the season vs UGA, so we might be catching them at a good time, or maybe that wakes them up.

Also of interest - this weekend Creighton plays UCONN, #3 in the NET. Would help us if Creighton could pull that out.

Creighton is currently #28

We're #10

This team is frustrating to watch right now.... and yet we are 12-2. I'm really trying not to gripe but I see so many things that could be our fatal flaw come March. Seeing Pinion have an increased role gives me some hope, but without NSJ we have to be honest in that our ceiling isn't nearly as high. Hard to win it all without that guy you can count on for 18-20 a night. Maybe Council can handle that role, and JP should help teams stay honest and have to mix man and zone.
It just sucks to think what this team could have been with NSJ and Brazile at full strength.

1 game at a time. We've yet to see a Muss team that doesn't improve dramatically between early January and March

Exactly why I'm not ready to lose faith.... they are just hard to watch right now for long periods of time. Like baby deer learning how to run.

Making sure he can still cash the checks.
