I personally am not a big fan of it but get that we need to slow the game down or it opens us up to more points. It's not like our offense is lights out at full speed either.
Muss has done a medium job with this team this year. They've developed some but none of the first round kids look it right now. I also find it crazy brazille was his hope for a shooter this year....like come the frick on.
Muss failed this team in a lot of ways off the court and it shows up on the court. The leadership dynamic never developed. The dog mentality of years past was replaced with flash instead of substance. Which looked and was a lot of fun early on....
But now we're passing for a highlight dunk instead of taking the layup and drawing the foul finishing strong. Problem is even in dunk contest guys tend to need a few tries where you don't get that in games. You just need the points.... Mason Jones never passes that missed dunk to council. He goes to the rack finishes strong and makes the 3 pt play. NSJ didn't ever figure this out over the season. He didn't get that feedback when it wasn't potentially season ending.
Some of that is on muss and some of it is the result of the injuries.

HELL NO!!! Drives me insane and doesn't work with this team. We need every possession to count.

I'm betting he did, but it don't always take in them young ones. He got it for sure tonight with some bench therapy to that arse. We'll see how he responds.

Smith has has less than half the games played as the other guys. That's a lot less reps, game film, and situational learning.

Agreed, but everything said above about stall ball is true. We just don't click when attempting to do it.
Don't mess with the flow, keep the hammer (damn, i just used a fricking Chard Morris cliche) down.

NSJ still hasn't found his role on this team. I think he would be best used as a 6th man like we did with Notae 2 years ago. If he is hot leave him in for a bit, if not sit him down.

The problem with this team has been a lack of ft shooting
This is why I don’t like running clock with this team. If you are going to trade empty possessions for 30 seconds of clock there is a good chance you will have to make free throws at the end of the game . Outside of Devo and maybe Walsh, there isn’t anyone on this team I trust to hit free throws.

Rickie is almost 80%. He was solid tonight.

Nick is still growing up and we’re in the tournament. Not ideal but it is what it is. Still gotta roll with him for what he’s capable of

He’s just not as good as Devo yet and I feel like they play the exact same role. When they’re both on the floor it doesn’t always feel complimentary.

RC was a factor today. Loved to see it.

Zero rebounds and zero assists in 28 minutes is tough. Hope the benching and bad game get it out of his system.
Need everything he supposedly is to have any chance against Kansas.

Bad game for sure. Devo and Council have had their share too though. And Black to a lesser extent
As long as only 1 of those 4 have a bad game at a time we’re ok

I think the tradeoff there is that even with hammer down were streaky and turnover prone. There's more flow than stall for sure but it's not necessarily positive. Muss is trying to keep their inevitable run to 10 pts instead of 15 in today's situation. I think my frustration is when we play stall ball our defense disappears too

We went 76% at the free throw line, created more turnovers, and out-rebounded them. We do those three things we can beat anyone.
Rebounding and turnovers we are capable of winning every game with the right intensity and mindset. Free throws is our true liability that’s out of the team’s control at this point. We did well tonight, and hopefully we continue, but the season has shown what kind of FT team we are.

If we want any chance to beat Kansas we CANNOT turn the ball over. They will fry us like chicken if we do.
Our guards have enough length to give their guards problems.
If we play smart we can win. If we play young and careless we will lose.
Limit our turnovers to 10 or less. Win the rebound battle and it will be a good game.

It may be a blessing that NSJ played piss poor today. He knows the NBA is watching. Hopefully he comes out blazing against Kansas.

Since he has returned, his good games we lose and his bad games we win.
I’d be okay with bad NSJ tomorrow.
